So, not a Tasmanian Tiger or a Tasmanian Devil (which isn’t extinct) ...Although the 130 years was off, I had the same hope when I read the headline. I think that a Tasmanian Tiger will be found in the next few years but most likely in the wilds of Papua New Guinea. The rediscovery of the supposedly-extinct New Guinea singing dog gives me hope. The same tribes that lead scientists to the range of the singing dog described another dog-like creature that sounded very much like a thylacine. PNG was in the historic range of thylacine.
