We had a black Ltjg in my gunboat division in Nam. He was utter murder on the black sailors if they screwed up.

That was the attitude of black petty officers and Chiefs towards the behavior of black Seamen when I served. This was back during the civil rights dustups (1961-'64). Back when racism was fact, not fantasy. They had enough to deal with and didn't need black sailors making blacks look bad.

I worked for a few of them and don't remember ever being treated unfairly.
