“Russian Ruble is the 2nd worst performing currency against the U.S. Dollars this year right behind the worst performing Angolan Kwanza.”
Time to start Anglicizing the spelling as rubble, instead of ruble?
“By the beginning of October, we can expect a rate of 120 rubles per dollar.
“Unless the authorities stop the printing press and give an impetus to the real sector of the economy,” Chubais says, noting the need to lift at least part of the sanctions against Russia.

Speedy's Daily Propaganda Thread
Is Ukraine winning the War, in your opinion, Speedy? All these supposed blown up Russian tanks, does it matter?
You say the war is going to last 10 more years, I think it will be over by next year this time. Because Ukraine is running out of bodies to throw into the meat grinder, and the big Spring Offensive has been a failure. The Ukrainian Army didn't make it to the Sea of Azov, as they claimed they were going to. They didn't recapture large swaths of territory.
One thing: Russia is paying for their own guns, the USA is paying for Zelenskyy's. And a lot of people are getting sick of it.
Recent Free Republic articles on Ukraine:
Biden seeks $24 billion for Ukraine, testing bipartisan support in Congress
WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. President Joe Biden asked Congress to approve about $40 billion in additional spending on Thursday, including $24 billion for Ukraine and other international needs, $4 billion related to border security and $12 billion for disaster relief. You know, Speedy, the thing you and the other hyper-Ukraine supporters all avoid is talking about the domestic effects of your pet war.A senior administration official said the needs were great, and the White House was hopeful an agreement could be reached with Congress on the request, which covers only the first quarter of the current 2024 fiscal year.
But the request could face opposition in Congress, where some far-right Republicans - especially those with close ties to former President Donald Trump - want to pare back the billions in assistance Washington has sent to Kyiv since Russian troops invaded in February 2022.
Trump, the front-runner in the race to be the Republican presidential nominee in 2024, has been sharply critical of U.S. support for Ukraine in the war. And 70 House members backed an unsuccessful proposal in July to cut funding for Ukraine.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said there was strong bipartisan support in the Democratic-led Senate for doing more to back Ukraine, help Americans affected by natural disasters and "fight the scourge of fentanyl."
"The latest request from the Biden administration shows America’s continued commitment to helping Americans here at home and our friends abroad; and should send a clear signal to Vladimir Putin, the Chinese government, and others of America’s resolve when it comes to defending democracy around the world," Schumer said in a statement backing Biden's request.
As I've pointed out previously the logic of your own position is leading you inexorably into supporting Biden in 2024. I hope you have the courage of your convictions to come out and admit that you are supporting him over Trump.
Because Biden is giving you the unlimited cash-flow to his corrupt buddies in Ukraine, and Trump is making it clear he will turn the money tap off.
Biden’s Ukraine funding request triggers House showdown: ‘Shoveling money out the door’
President Biden on Thursday is expected to ask Congress for billions of dollars of additional funding for Ukraine's defense, a move that will lead to drama in the fall given heavy GOP opposition to the unchecked war funding seen under Biden over the last 18 months. The trend line isn't with you, Speedy. The opposition to the war was samll at first, but it's growing and growing. The sad fact is the war is a major financial problem for the USA, it's making ordinary Americans poorer as it is a massive contributor to inflation. The core of the MAGA GOP gets this."It’s definitely a very big point of contention," a senior House GOP aide told Fox News Digital.
While there’s broad support for supplemental Ukraine aid in the Senate, it will be an uphill battle in the House, where Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., promised his narrow majority that he would not bring a supplemental Ukraine funding bill to the floor. Many conservatives, still bristling from McCarthy’s debt limit deal with President Biden, have been vocally opposed to giving Kyiv more money without more accountability.
"He can go with Democrats, but then the speaker puts himself in a tough spot if he chooses to do that," the aide said.
Last month, 70 House Republicans voted for an amendment in the annual defense bill that would cut off all funding to Ukraine, which has been defending itself against a Russian invasion for a year and a half.
Celebrate. Sing and Dance!
“By the beginning of October, we can expect a rate of 120 rubles per dollar.
...“Unless the authorities stop the printing press”
They can’t keep up their huge wartime spending rate without running the printing presses. As their financial reserves run out, they are going to have to make up for that current major source of funding, by printing rubles even much faster.
Even the greenest cherry boy analysts just hired out of school can see that coming. Everybody is backing away from the ruble, like those cowboys in the saloon, right before the gunfight breaks out.
...”and give an impetus to the real sector of the economy,”
Again, the war prevents that - sanctions, brain drain and capital flight.
They have already provided greater fiscal stimulus to their civilian economy, than they did during COVID. The Russian Treasury ran a net negative income from taxes on civilian businesses last year - they are handing out so much in subsidies. They have already shot their wadding, in terms of policies they could adopt domestically, to stimulate the civilian economy.
Hard landing ahead.
“Russia is paying for their own guns, the USA is paying for Zelenskyy’s”
From Wikipedia:
“The Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG, also known as the Ramstein group) is an alliance of 54 countries (all 31 member states of NATO and 23 other countries) supporting the defence of Ukraine by sending military equipment in response to the 2022 Russian invasion. The group coordinates the ongoing donation of military aid at monthly meetings.”
Countries from every continent (except Antarctica) are paying for Ukrainian guns. Countries with a combined GDP more than 50 times that of Russia at its height (before Putin drove the economy into the abyss).
In a significant sense, Russia is not paying for its guns on an ongoing basis, but rather by massively expending them out of a limited (albeit massive) inventory - its inheritance from the Soviet Union. When that iron mountain of inventory is expended, Russia is nowhere near able to pay for continued expenditures at current rates.
Hard landing ahead. Math will have its day.
You are advocating for US disengagement from Ukraine just as the Kremlin does. You just made the Democrats case on MAGA-Russia collusion. They don’t even have to fake anything now.
I’m advocating for ending the war that Ukraine can’t win and negotiating a peace, just like we always do. Like Trump did in Afghanistan, like Nixon did in Vietnam, like Bush/Obama did in Iraq, etc.
I think if you think realistically about it you will realize that THIS IS HOW THE WAR WILL END.
So, let’s get to it.
The “Kremlin” is not a boogy man, and I don’t believe that spending another $100 BILLION to keep the war going for another year or two is in the best interest of the USA.
And, honestly, I don’t care one iota what the lying Democrats and their MSM say about MAGA, and neither should you or anyone else not aligned with them. They have shown an utter contempt for the truth for years now. I would not change any political policy by even 1% in order to accommodate their talking points.
We're at $111 Billion (with a B). That's more than we are going to spend on Transportation and HUD. A lot of Americans are homeless, and a lot of our transportation infrastructure is crap.
Funny how nice the airports are in China, Hong Kong, even the Philippines compared to dumps like LAX. Why is that?
Because the Chinese aren't pumping their wealth out continuously to corrupt military contractors and foreign "allies" in billion dollar chunks.
Basta! Enough already with the stupid foreign wars!
Russia requested a meeting of the UN Security Council on the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine for August 17.
What Left Bank Dnipro doink?
What Scott Ritter doink?
“the war is a major financial problem for the USA”
We are paying about one percent of our Federal budget, which is only a small fraction of one percent of our more than $21 Trillion GDP. Funding for the Ukraine is lost in the noise of the US Federal budget. It is more a matter of principle for some, than an actual financial pressure.
Russia’s GDP is now smaller than Chile’s, and the Russian ruble has been reduced to an American penny. What a disaster Putin has been for the Russian economy, Military and people.
Bottom Line: Ukraine will get its supplemental. Only a minority of Republican legislators oppose it. They will quibble over some details, posture for some statements, and likely get some accountability measure added, like an audit or Inspector General.
“Russia requested a meeting of the UN Security Council on the supply of Western weapons to Ukraine for August 17.”
Must really scare them. I guess they see Crimea becoming untenable, if the long range stuff gets delivered.
Now they want to hide behind UN skirts. No more Billy Badass, going to re-write the Global order?
Bring us the head of Vladimir Vladimirobitch, and we may begin to dictate terms for Russia’s safe withdrawal and reparations.
“Enough already with the stupid foreign wars!”
Since we won’t be through with Russian wars of aggression until Russia has lost the capability and will to prosecute them, it is best to polish off that capability now, while we have a sucker (Putin) in charge over there, who can not bring himself to withdraw from the trap.
We are getting the job done for pennies on the dollar, versus having to do it ourselves.
P.S. Have you noticed the USA is currently building infrastructure and manufacturing capacity at a faster rate than we did during WWII? The re-write of NAFTA to USMCA, the post-COVID reshoring of supply chains, the pull out from China and the Trillion dollar “Inflation Reduction Act” have created a perfect storm of investment in America. American GDP overall is now growing above the long term average rate. As a bonus, we also got a huge chunk of Russia’s former marker share for natural gas to Europe, on long term contracts.
Kicking Russian corruption out of Europe will bring vast economic benefits to the US economy. That’s why President Trump campaigns for American energy to replace Russian energy in Europe. Those genuinely concerned about economics are supporting Ukraine.
Only those who want to Make Russia Great Again don’t want good job creating American energy to replace Russian energy in Europe.
History shows us that living as slaves in the filthy Russian World is never peaceful for the Ukrainian people. That’s why they fight. The Kremlin and its fellow travelers who dream of another Neo Soviet Russian empire naturally disagree. That’s ok.
Rumors of Ukrainian pilots training in the USA today on F16A Fighting Falcons, Dassault Mirage F1CRs and Northrop T38A Talons. Sending a message to Putin.
The Washington Compost reported today that the first group of Uke pilots won't begin training until late this year (after completing a 4 month English language course), and won't finish F-16 training until next summer.
F-16 training for Ukrainian pilots faces delays and uncertainty
If the rumors you posted are true, it sounds like they are training with Draken, who might have a little more flexibility than the USAF or other NATO Air Forces.
Probably. I think the USA is sending a message to Putin with today’s training. UK was doing the same thing with Ukrainian pilot training yesterday or the day before. Sending a message.
The holdup could be caused by classified equipment in the NATO aircraft. Equipment that is Secret (Rel NATO) would have to be reclassified or removed.
The Draken aircraft would have the classified equipment removed.
