I can only speak for myself-I like DeSantis. He actually had me excited when he so easily won re-election. BUT...when I saw Paul Ryan, Karl Rove, the Brothers Bush and other establishment GOP big wigs lining up behind him he became toxic to me.
I’ve seen their movie many times- It always ends up the same. The base gets fed red meat on the campaign trail and gets bupkis once they get power. Then we see “nation building”, wars and other international fiascos while our borders, domestic priorities and values are allowed to stay under attack from the left and ignored by the GOP establishment as not being important to them.
They want my money. They want my vote. They want me off of the couch and volunteering and canvassing. They just don’t want to listen to me, nor to represent me nor my values when it comes to legislation and leading.
If DeSantis is so fully backed by them that tells me he is one of them. As I said, I’ve seen this movie before and the ending sucks. No sale.
Because he’s Deep State.
That’s not the problem.
The problem is Deep State doesn’t care.
And the reason why ought to be what we focus on.
“Why isn’t Ron 50 points ahead?”
Simple, he blew it.
