The British Government has introduced new legislation which enables sanctions on Russia to be kept in place until Moscow pays compensation to Ukraine.
The new package will now “state that sanctions can also be used for the express purpose of promoting the payment of compensation by Russia”, according the statement, meaning sanctions could remain in place even if Moscow stands down.
Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said: “As Ukraine continues to defend itself against Russia’s invasion, the terrible impacts of Putin’s war are clear. Ukraine’s reconstruction needs are – and will be – immense.
‘Through our new measures today, we’re strengthening the UK’s sanctions approach, affirming that the UK is prepared to use sanctions to ensure Russia pays to repair the country it has so recklessly attacked.”

No defense in front of Pyatykhatky? None for Blahodatne? No defense of Lobkove? Or Makarivka? No defenses anywhere within the 300 square kilometers liberated in the last two weeks?

On the first day of the ground advance.
Instead of a single deep thrust (presumably to the Sea of Azov, to cut off the land bridge to Crimea), Ukrainian forces have been advancing toward the 2nd (Main) defensive line on multiple axes, and on a broad front.
Russia is still scrambling to cover a wide front (over 100 miles) in Zaporizhzhia against the main Ukrainian counterattack force (of over a thousan armored vehicles). The Ukrainians are faking left, and faking right, while advancing across a broad front. Russian forces are shifting units and committing reserves, trying to anticipate where the main attack will come, and plug holes as they develop, while expending a lot of ammo and fuel.
The main battle is yet to be joined, when a main force of a few hundred armored vehicles breach the main defensive line.
Once again it will be shown that Russia, despite the paper numbers and types of forces, the whole military is in disarray. If the y commit their AF to any battle, they will loose it. Their nuclear stocks are also questionable if the maintenance is anything like that of their conventional forces. Their surface fleet likely maintained as well as the Moskva was - if they use it they will loose it.
What they do have is EW means and methods to include hacking and a submarine fleet.

The latest pictures released by @bradyafr showing Rykove are just mine-blowing. Not even the foundation of the buildings, where the ammunition was stored, can be seen. The rail tracks totally disappeared along the entire length of the city center.
