Well, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the RNC is pretty useless, and the way to end all the batty nonsense is to convince Independents to register with one of the major parties (yes, you can take a shower afterward to combat feeling fundamentally unclean). If they want to vote for a candidate, they might get to do so twice, if they want to prevent disastrous candidates from making it out of the primary, they can do that too. The thing with populism is that it is popular, so the more the merrier!

Trump couldn’t win an election in a year where the economy was booming and everybody was happy with the direction of the country.

No way he is going to win a general election in 2024 when he is basically so old he can’t or won’t even consider reality. He is about the only candidate we have available who is likely to lose in 2024.

I’d like to think conservatives are sane enough to understand this, but after the past 4 years, I have my doubts about people in general having a clue how to actually pick people to represent them.

You are so correct. I never thought at the start of 2016 that I would vote for Trump in the primaries but other than Paul, he was the best choice. It was not that he was necessarily that good, but the others were so bad. If I were any of the others, I would have self-examined who I was and what I stood for, to see what I was doing wrong. But no, there is no acknowledgment that they might be wrong. Absolutely none. It is mind bogglingly how blind they are.
