“Russian general Surovikin hinting at making a goodwill gesture and retreating from right bank Kherson region and Kherson city in interview today.”
Regrouping.
Russian general Surovikin interview today seems to indicate Russia will retreat from right bank Kherson region as well as Kherson city and then BLOW UP the Kakhovka Reservoir dam as well as BLOWING UP the entire Antonovsky bridge in order to keep Ukraine from advancing into Crimea.
He’s going to blow up the Kakhovka Reservoir dam and HPP as well as the entire Antonovsky bridge as part of the retreat. Actually, makes strategic sense if he does it to defend Crimea. This general is smart and ruthless.
He will also blame the bombing of the dam on Ukraine.
The Russian appointed administrator of Kherson (Kiril Stresmousov) has reportedly left town, for the safer side of the River.
The Ukrainian MoD has requested Operational silence from the media and individuals on the Kherson theater of Operations, from 18 October - just like before their last big advance there.
After the Kerch Bridge, it looks like the Russians have decided they must withdraw significantly - insiders have been the first out. FSB reportedly evacuating their families from Crimea.
As per their SOP, they will likely leave a mob of their lowest priority troops behind without telling them, to cover the retreat of their regular units.
It is likely going to be a banner month for Russian tanks destroyed and captured. Maybe the best! (so far)

“He’s going to blow up the Kakhovka Reservoir dam and HPP as well as the entire Antonovsky bridge as part of the retreat.”
That would be a good time to polish off that Kerch Bridge, and the water supply to Crimea.
“This general is... ruthless.”
They say that to all the guys they put in command.
Its how Russians flirt.
This guy’s different. He’s strategic, too. A million times smarter than Putin.
“This guy’s different... A million times smarter”
Let’s kill him then.
I expect the Russians to play the “goodwill gesture” peace card now that Kremlin dupes are carrying water for them with their WW3 psywar gaslighting. No need for any more nuke threats for the moment from KGB Vlad.
I think the Russian propaganda about Biden telling Ukraine they need to take Kherson before the midterms is actually true.
And I think after the goodwill gesture in Kherson takes place and the midterms are over, I think Biden will tell Ukraine to do a deal with Russia.
Politically, the open checkbook to Ukraine ends after the GOP takes back congress. So maybe one more round of big bucks during the lame duck session, but after that, it’s going to be tighter oversight of the spending and specific guarantees to be made by Ukraine.
RuZZia’s new goal: “not to lose”.
“The head of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Agency predicts “significant victories” for Kyiv by the end of the year and said “it should be over” by next summer.
He said that he hoped the victories would include the southern Russian-occupied city of Kherson, where Ukraine has made significant progress in recent weeks.
In remarks distributed by his agency, Budanov said: “At the end of spring it should be over. By the summer everything should be over.”
He said that Ukraine intended to return to its 1991 borders. That would mean recapturing Crimea and the areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions occupied since 2014.
Budanov also said that he does not believe Russia will use nuclear weapons in Ukraine.
“Theoretically, they can, but it will only accelerate the disintegration of the Russian Federation, and they know and understand this very well. They are not as stupid as we would like them to be,” he said.
Budanov said he believes that those in the Kremlin had now coalesced on a central goal for the war in Ukraine: “Not to lose.”
“Some of them are notional ‘doves,’ others are notional ‘hawks,’” he said. “Both these towers understand that things are very bad, they just have slightly different opinions on how to get out of this situation.”
He added, “Some understand clearly that they should stop and look for some kind of peaceful resolution, others believe that Russia will cease to exist if they do not continue, if they are defeated, so to speak.”
“It is no longer a question of winning — it’s now ‘not to lose,’” he said of his assessment of Kremlin thinking.
With a Ukrainian victory, he said, a “very serious political process will begin, connected with changes in the current Russian Federation.””
The open checkbook ends when the GOP takes back congress.
That will be the political reality.
It will be very difficult for politicians in both parties to provide high levels of financial support to Ukraine next year while we all will be suffering in Biden’s recession.
Make it so Number 1.
“Chinese Economists Tally Cost of Putin’s War, Warn on Deep Scars
Study finds real income may fall almost 12% after sanctions Russian economy has adjusted but isolation will inflict toll”
“Russia faces a sharp and prolonged slump in its real income as international sanctions over President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine leave deep scars on its economy, according to a study by two Chinese academics.
The severing of trade links and access to multinational production may cut real income by almost 12% and result in a “permanent decline in real gross domestic product” for Russia, Xiayi Du and Zi Wang from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics said in the study published in the journal Economics Letters.”
“The open checkbook ends when the GOP takes back congress.”
You might be right, but I’ll take the other side of the bet.
I think there will be a lame duck funding deal in December that could potentially fund Ukraine for another year. But after that, the money will be not be there politically because of Biden’s recession.
A shortage of nat gas in EU this winer? Maybe not. Right now, EU dealing with over supply. And storage is nearly full.
“Europe’s LNG Import Deluge Spurs Spanish Oversupply Warning
Enagas warns of potential network limitations to November Record LNG shipments to Europe running into supply bottlenecks”
“So much liquefied natural gas is flowing into Europe that the region’s import facilities are struggling to keep up with the incoming tankers, according to Spain’s gas network operator.
Enagas SA may limit the number of cargoes its LNG system handles until the first week of November as a “significant” reduction in industrial demand since August and high storage levels left it little room to absorb excess imports, it said in a statement. “This situation is not an isolated event in the Spanish gas system, it’s also taking place in other countries around us,” Enagas said, without being more specific.”

NS 1 gone for good? Good riddance.
When will RuZZia blow NS 2?
“The open checkbook ends when the GOP takes back congress.”
Politcally, it will benefit the GOP to claim the victory in the Ukraine, and they risk taking the blame if it fails (i.e. they are guaranteed to have the media try to hang the blame on them).
At these rates, Russia will be significantly demilitarized sometime next year - tanks, artillery, missiles, etc.. It is close enough, that they should be politically incentivized to bag the big win. Also good for humanity in general...
