I normally put my own solo audiobooks in the General forum, but our FRiend rlmorel put in a great deal of work to complete this. Hopefully this can be considered a proper use of one of the “activism” or “announcements” sidebars. This was no small task and it was completed furiously fast for its size.
I love that you are doing this. To a similar end, I started doing a free podcast a year or so ago, reading aloud Puritan books. Just wanted to get them out there. It goes worldwide, exceeded all expectations.
If you would like to team up on this let me know, I’ll send you a message. Thanks!
I am not sure what teaming up would mean, but, sure, keep me in the loop?
You contribute your voice to libervox?
Very cool. Thank you for doing that.
I’ve downloaded audiobooks from liberbox before. The range of talent for oration can vary quite a bit, but you cannot complain because it’s free and people put a lot of their time in to it.
I might check your work out when I get a free minute.
librivox*
ProgressingAmerica contacted me because I am a prolific consumer of Audiobooks (I cannot read well anymore) and got me involved in Librivox...so that is likely what he means by “teaming up”.
It was a real challenge for me (I work in IT, and I had...ahem...”technical issues” with my workstation!) but I enjoyed the challenge, and got better as I went along.
By got better, I made every mistake possible, and resolved not to do that again!
I highly recommend it. I am going to do another book with the recommendation of ProgressingAmerica, it is a biography of Dr. Joseph Warren who was involved with the Brothers of Liberty, Paul Revere, and all those folks who was killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill. The book is “The Life and Times of Joseph Warren” published in 1865 by Richard Frothingham.
I am looking forward to it, as I feel he is a forgotten Founder. He was instrumental early on. Of course, in the area I live in, there are a good number of references to him, but elsewhere in the USA, not so much!
This was my first real attempt at dictating an audiobook...I got better as I went...like most things!
I need to modulate the pitch of my voice better, and enunciate better, but for a first try, I think it is acceptable.
I am looking forward to starting out from the beginning with the lessons I learned.
It was all a new world for me.
I believe both Keynes and Galbraith were Fabians. The Fabians realized that socialism needed to be “snuck into” democracies.
Indeed the Fabians realized that socialism needed to be “snuck into” democracies.
The democrats picked up on the idea when it popped up in Europe and have been working with it from day one.
Yes, been contributing for over a decade now.
Progressives erased our history on purpose. Ergo, by unerasing it we do ourselves a huge favor.
I can go big, or I can go home.
Ping
Just a friendly ping/fyi, no response necessary.
Thank you for the ping. :)
Well I am glad he pointed you to Librivox and thank you for a job well done friend. Still listening but I think you narrated it well. Great topic!
It has inspired me to add a much needed audiobook section in our own forum, this will be the first in the list of links to the sources.
Looking forward to more!
Thank you!
Thank you very much.
Cut the shit out
Please explain further what you mean. Thank you.
My mistake. All I saw was pages and pages of audiobooks. Somehow I landed on that page thinking it was the main front page that had been hacked and blown out with dozens of posts.
