Probably the 1980s I read a detective novel taking place in Russia called Gorky Park. An early feature in the novel involved Chechin mafia heavily operating in a Moscow street flea market. It was later made into a movie.

I read that impressive Gorky Park book years ago. Chechen hoodlums are all over Moscow, along with other Muslims parasites. Shish kabob restaurants etc
