And putting covered pans with hot coals in them as footwarmers in the bed.

My current rate per KwH is $0.10; this would translate to an annual bill for electricity for me of $30,888.

Where’s Dandy Don Meredith when you need him???

Now, think of trying to heat a house that was built out of stone or brick in the 1600’s. This is what many people in the UK still live in. Houses/structures that are hundreds of years old.
They are cold, drafty and very inefficient.

I have a 50 year old house. It is bad enough. I can not imagine trying to heat some place built before there was indoor plumbing and electricity.

Exactly. Sorry, the Brits, and Europeans, have no one to blame but themselves. They desperately wanted to demonstrate that they were more enlightened and morally superior by going green. Guess what? Now they can pay the bill for going green.

Remember when all those German girls were holding signs welcoming refugees? Yeah, you really showed us!

This is a quote from the article about the UK, which went green too fast and without having the energy supply to replace coal. Renewable energy must have a constant reliable backup to supply energy when the wind isn’t blowing or the sun isn’t shinning.

But Biden has following the same template with his billions to fund green energy and use the regulations to cripple fossil fuel production. CA going all in for EVs by 2035 is an example of this idiocy that requires “green solutions” without the energy infrastructure to support them. CA does not have the electrical grid to support this transition.

...the real cause of this looming disaster has been the government enforced shutdown of most of our coal generating capacity during the last decade

The beatings will continue until morale improves!
