I think Trump has taken over the Republican Party, but many Republican politicians and party leaders don’t realize it yet.

These primaries and midterms are shaping up as a showdown between Trump’s populist MAGA movement and the old guard. The old guard is in denial, and believes MAGA was a passing fad, based on Trump’s “winning winning winning” persona - and now that he “lost”, it will quickly fade.

But there are a few things very wrong with that analysis. First of all, he didn’t lose in 2020, so Trump support is not going away. Secondly, the stolen 2020 election, the Jan 6th farce, and the fake impeachments that’s sabotaged Trump’s first term, are open wounds and the source of a lot of anger among MAGA patriots.

Far from fading away, Trump’s MAGA movement is stoked by the hot embers of past injustices that must be put right.

This is want the Trump-hating Left and the Trump hating Right fail to understand: Trump supporters are loaded for bear and will accept nothing short of putting Trump back in the White House where he belongs.

I think in November, we will see an awful lot of Trump-hating Republican politicians put out to pasture.

Lifelong ‘Sconnie here.

Everything that happened to Trump happened first to Scott Walker and his administration. From false accusations to illegal investigations, physical attacks and violent protests, and in the end losing a close election to a gray, old, lackluster opponent who barely campaigned.

Trouble is....the Madison-based wing of the Wisconsin GOP did not learn the lesson of the abuse and hardships they endured at the hands of the other side.

They still believe that politics as usual can work for them, and that they will have the support of the grass roots Joe Lunchbucket Walker supporters even if they visibly display their disdain for the same.

They are wrong. Politics has changed forever. They are dinosaurs and the meteor is approaching.

While I believe Rebecca Kleefisch might have once been a reasonably effective Governor, I don’t think she has the stuff to be elected at this time in history. And if elected, she would not antagonize the Madison GOP set sufficiently to get anything real accomplished.

Polling seems to have Trump’s candidate is behind…

Honestly haven’t followed WI this primary season at all…

What do the folks on the ground have to say about this race?

Any major grievances against the non Trump backed candidate?

Is the Trump backed guy any good (OZ is crap) and does he really have any shot at winning?
