“Thanks. I think we should keep our FRiends up to date on the current state of the energy markets, and I’ll be paying attention to those things. :) “
You’re welcome and absolutely, as our masters are literally playing with fire.
EU is paying top dollar. That’s why we export to them.
Basic economics.
To the disadvantage of Americans, who could use that energy right now. Are we incapable of paying for the same natural gas at lower cost, because the companies wouldn't have to worry about shipping it overseas? When Americans are struggling with higher energy costs, we would still ship it overseas to countries who are only lacking because of their own foolish energy policies?
Let the Europeans develop their own energy sources, because they sure aren't lacking!
Should we not export Boeing airplanes or Autos from Detroit because keeping those products in the US will lower airplane tickets or the price of a new car?
Of course not, same for nat gas.
Its basic economics.
“Basic economics” is also why we ended up outsourcing our industrial base to China.
The dollar is not the end-all or be-all.
Followup to yesterday.
“Germany Weighs Intervention in Energy Markets to Bring Back Coal” [Germany has 6th largest proven coal reserves in the world]
Few highlights:
“The new measure — which is part of a bigger energy framework package — will allow Germany to reopen 6.9 gigawatts of coal, 1.9 gigawatts of lignite and 1.6 gigawatts of oil capacity to boosts its energy security.
That would enable the country to cut the amount of gas used for power by 52% over the next 12 months, according to BloombergNEF estimates. Replacement of power plants will be allowed until March 2024.”
“(German nat gas storage) Reserves are currently around 63% full. “ vs 61% for EU overall.
