Let’s assume the sheriff looked at the local situation. The kid, the parents, the school. He made his call for how best to protect his constituents and also help the kid.

There were two choices. deal with it publicly and in the open and now, or hide the situation and hope it goes away.

If the sheriff hid it and the kid does something later. Exactly whose fault would it be?

YOU WOULD ALL BE ACCUSING THE SHERRIF!

That statute is the law on the books for Florida that I mentioned above. Yes there are exceptions as in most statutes. What did I miss?

The sheriff also warned that school shooters will be met with deadly force.

“You don’t get to come into one of my schools in my county and present deadly force. Because we meet deadly force with delay force, without one second, without hesitation,” he said. “If you think you’re going to come and kill a child or a faculty member, think again. We will kill you immediately.”

My point is a ten year old kid talking sh*t is not John Dillinger. This is an emotional reaction to the other situation. Juan Law decided he's gonna make a statement and he went WAY over the line. But it looks like he reached his target audience, Karens like you who say we should do SOMETHING when killings like this take place.

The man is a social justice warrior, not a cop. And this is not justice.

Might I add, if I can be funny while making my point, then doesn't make me the master of all I survey? I think it does.

What does “hide” mean? The kid gets processed like any other juvenile. The info is not hidden from law enforcement or the courts.

Thats your reply to a tee. Give me the practical “logic” of how publishing the kid’s photo and name does anything practical. The family will almost certainly will move. How does your brilliant “logic” work in that situation to protect anyone? Everyone in the US carries the kids picture on their dash board in case he’s spotted looking shady so they can “do something”? Don’t respond with vague happy sounding generalities.

If this child isn’t on some kind of “behaviour altering” rx, I’ll eat my flipflops. Look at the flatline expression so common in these other young teens and boys accused of school shootings- drugs that were meant to help or control behavior but have terrible “side effects” of homicidal and/or suicidal ideation. Ignore that at everyone’s peril. If these kind of verbal threats by a child are prosecutable, will he be afforded the same rights of presumption of innocence and get his day in court? Psyc eval, homelife eval., school issues, etc etc - another young Florida man has been in jail for 3 years without a trial for the Parkland HS shootings, and many were calling for his execution, no need for a trial in spite of exculpatory evidence of his innocence. Sickening how quickly the Rule of Law, a fair trial, can be abandoned along with no compassion for this child. Is he a danger to himself or others? If the answer is Yes, after due diligence and proper investigation, then proceed from there. Oh wait, no one wants to spend the $$$$ for Baker Acting any more, so let’s keep them in the Criminal Injustice System.

So the most recent situation was it was hidden in the juvenile justice situation. The public was not aware and could not protect them selves, nor help the situation.

The public has a right to know about crimes. shining the light on them stops much of it, not all.

The legal law of publications has been shown to you here but you want to rely on your own personal emotions is the situation, not the law.

Again, shinning the light on crimes has a higher chance of success than hiding it. It that logical enough for you?

Why would you think the family would move? In my day the family stayed and proved society wrong.

This is a local sheriff making a local judgement on application of the law. His county will agree or not.

I have met Strick local justice and I deserved it and it had the intended results and I am thankful for it in later years. I have also receive lenient justice and it also worked in the proper situation.
