Once a shell goes out of a barrel on a ballistic trajectory the initial location of the barrel can be automatically back calculated by radars. Shoot and scoot is alternatively called move or die.

Russian 2S5 Giatsint-S are in theater. Just saying.

Take it for what its worth given the sheer amount of propaganda coming out of theater, so yeah.

The Russian batteries are self-propelled; the Ukie-American howitzers are towed.

Disadvantage: Ukie.

Longer range, more easily moved.

Counter battery fire makes fixed guns just about obsolete.

A foolish thing.

Patton said something like, fixed fortifications are monuments to stupidity. So are fixed guns on the modern battlefield.

If you get a chance, go back and look at Steve Bannon’s War Room from yesterday. They spent two hours talking about an attack on American, except it was from Russia it was from China and speculated it could happen as soon as this summer.

Anybody who watched the entire 2 hours either comes away feeling the situation is very scary or Steve Bannon and the people on the show are full of BS.

Judge for yourself.

Russian 2S5 Giatsint-S are in theater

The Russian will fire thousands and thousands or rounds.
Then, the barrel will be worn out.
Then, NATO will loudly proclaim they take credit for worn out artillery, a true game changer

“Patton said something like, fixed fortifications are monuments to stupidity. So are fixed guns on the modern battlefield”.

Patton learned a lesson at Metz. Metz was fixed and we had a terrible time with huge losses before that was taken.

ALL of the M-777s were delivered without the targeting computers.

All targeting is via human computation or offline computers.

Still, these are nice guns.

Just not the real deal.

You’re right. We do need to keep out of it. We have a history of getting in where we don’t belong. But he needs some warm fuzzies to keep the voters aware of how wonderful he is. And there is a dark side to this that hasn’t been talked about yet.

We are “donating” 108 M777 systems along with 200,000 155 mm artillery rounds which include the new liquid crystal display units, software updates, improved power systems, and muzzle sensors for onboard ballistic computing. Upgrades include a touchscreen Chief Section Display, a new Mission System Computer, and a digital radio. This was part of the 19 May 2022 Biden administration that authorized $100 million more in Ukraine military aid while we have problems getting baby food to the shelves.

And remember, one of the main reasons for getting them into the region is that they are mobile. Wonder how much of this is going to be left behind to be stolen and in time to be used by terrorist groups against us like was done in Afghanistan? Putin can have a fire/yard sale.

I read all this stuff about we are adding this, we are adding that while seeing the Ruskies are taking in more area. So, what is next to add, MLRS? Tomahawks with nuke warheads? This will end up in another disaster for us. The Bidet is looking ahead already. Off goes the military to Somalia. Never ends. Where in the Constitution did I note we were the army of the world??

Speaking of the Constitution, I notice the first word in the preamble is “We”. Hum, a pronoun. Why did the authors not include more pronouns??

Folks are starting to notice that our kleptocrats are treating Russia the way the US treated Japan prior to World War II.

The sanctions, name calling and finger pointing, and mobilization of forces look all too familiar.

What Russia and pre WWII Japan have in common is strong nationalism.

In both cases negotiation was/is absolutely doable—but it requires skill and a determination to treat them with respect.

The current DC clowns are going in the exact opposite direction—again.

Think about it, if you were China and were serious about invading Taiwan, you would have to calculate the USA and others would attempt to intervene. The first thing you would do is strike American bases in Japan, Guam and other areas on the Pacific, attempt to take any US Carriers in the area basically try a 2022 version of Pearl Harbor.

They would expect sanctions like what Russia is currently experiencing.

They also know that if the USA immediately cut off China and stopped importing things, how devastating it would be for the USA economy.

What they also know is with Biden as POTUS, this might be their best chance and risk invading now versus in 2024 when a potentially new POTUS might a more formidable foe.
