Here is their plan:

They have 2+ years to make it happen.

Keep jacking the price of gas and diesel for a year to year and a half.

Shut down refineries. That starts this hurricane season and continues till there are few left (look for the EPA to be the main vehicle for this.)

Allow what little fuel is available to balloon in price.

Next come spot shortages (think baby formula), followed by wide spread outages.

All the while the EV market has abandoned talking about “range anxiety”. Little EV econoboxes will be priced under 25 grand and will have a max range of 100 miles, and max speed of 60mph.

The government will encourage these things and state that gasoline and diesel will never return to the market in usable amounts.

Basically it will be Biden’s way or nothing.

Just exactly what are we transitioning to for energy, skittles and unicorn farts? Where is the magic alternative energy source all the leftist kooks keep wailing about? It can’t be electricity because we don’t produce enough as is.

The watermelons are leaping into an abyss and they may suddenly present a cheap alternative to oil but more than likely they will not and millions will die from heat, cold, and starvation and the left will claim, but we had good intentions you can’t blame us. The road to hell’s paved with those comrades.

Prices Are Part Of Green “Transition

If one buys that he has some magic beans and nice bridge in New York for sale.
It’s about how control of everything works with a once upon a time story.

There is no shortage of oil. There’s a shortage of refined product because some of the older refineries mothballed during COVID will never be brought back online. They would have to be remanufactured to meet current specs. The refining companies aren’t going to make major investments in this political climate and having been made subject to ESG accounting rules, they are concerned about being cut off from their lending facilities. Like the major crude producers, they find themselves having to be near self-funding.

Welcome to the new normal of shortages and high prices.

Biden ran his campaign with the promise to “end fossil fuels.” He is keeping that promise.

As a PhD petroleum geologist who has done geochemistry on oil for nearly every basin in this planet I will tell you are flat out wrong. Every oil ever tested anywhere has the telltale geochemical signature of biotic origin. This is backed up with isotopic analysis. I challenge you to provide a single peer reviewed journal, paper ,study or dissertation that shows a total hydrocarbons system that doesn’t have a source kerogen, shale or deltaic organic source. Find one documented ,repeatable example. You won’t. I.have 20+ years on 6 of seven continents chasing, exploiting and production of total hydrocarbons system never once in thousands and thousands of samples have I ever EVER seen a sample that did not have at least three biological markers.

I.leased a Model S that went well over 300 miles per charge that’s more than a week’s worth of driving for me. I charged it off my panels on my land which run both of my homes with me selling excess to ERCOT. That tesla basically drove for free for a year my panels payed themselves off in under 4 years with a 25 year capacity warranty it’s all gravy at this point. The couple of times I did need a supercharger was to get to New Orleans or Houston both only took one 40 min stop at a supercharger. I went to the bar and drank while it topped up on corporate plastic at that. While not everyone can afford a tesla they are fine cars with unbelievable acceleration I routinely pants high end cars up to the limiter speed well over 100mph in ludicrous mode. I’m buying a Model Y as soon as they get through their back log at Giga Austin it holds two sets of fullsized clubs and luggage for two in the back that’s all I need oh and the 350kw supercharger rate for the road trips at home it will be topped up daily to a full pack from my panels.

Currently EVs account for, what? 2 % of all vehicle sales?

It is nice you have the coin to have all those expensive toys, but far and away the average american can not now nor will they ever be able to afford that level of conspicuous consumption.

What one company is doing is selling battery-less EVs, and lease the batteries for what is essentially another car payment. This is one way to eliminate the private ownership of means of personal transport.
