The Magic Kingdom was certainly that.
Very special financial magic for Disney.
Disney entered the wrong playground in the wrong place. Its more than their stock that will be going down.
I suspect the type of constituents they have won’t care about this blatant conflict of interest.
Read an article (Reader’s Digest?) in the late 50s, early 60s about an interview with Walt. He wanted to build a community with a load of futuristic innovations. He said that at that time, it couldn’t be done because of zoning restrictions, regulations...in general, politics. But he also said that he wouldn’t stop trying.
I’ve always felt that Disney Florida was the result of Walt’s dream ‘though it seems to have been corrupted.
I’m not making any judgement as to whether it’s good or bad for the community, county or state. I don’t live there and have never visited, just recounting an article from way-back.
Disney can hire the best and biggest PR firms in the world to do damage control for them. The company will feel a little pain for awhile but you can be sure plans are already in the works to restore the brand’s former image. It’s an easy sell because people love entertainment and are easily manipulated.
Disney has 80,000 employees in Florida, who may vote. I hope DeSantis has worked this into his calculus.
They have been hurt but as you point out they will survive. Soon there will be Disney commercials featuring mostly white happy families who have come to enjoy ‘classic” Disney fare. Soon new films will be advertised as being in the “classic Disney family tradition”. Again you are right, people like to be patronized, entertained and are often easily influenced with short memories.
Yep, watch for the ‘tilt’ back toward traditional American values and “classic” fare (as you accurately put it). The PR firms understand the game well.
An added impetus to “polish the image” will soon come when the company see’s a widespread of disapproval of liberalism and wokeness expressed in the November elections.

I'm sure most of those employees hate the corporate woke crap.
Disney has a new character - Molester Mole. It is a Mole that has a rainbow stripe shirt and no pants with a young mole who is nude... 🤓
I wonder how much this will cost Disney in terms of money each year?
