This sort of thing is great for Russian morale.
If we know about it, they know about it too.

Russia's Army is terrible. They are a 2nd world country with nukes, which aren't even there's, left over from the Soviet Union.

If Putin is arresting his own Praetorians, the man is growing nervous about his continued existence.

All armies in dictatorships are political. Heck - all armies in democracies are potentially political.

So ya think he just decided to resign? Wanted to have more time to spend listening to his collection of Simon & Garfunkel albums, did he?

If their forward elements don't get a constant river of fuel and ammunition, they will very soon be in a world of hurt.

A Russian reprise of Hitler’s “Night of the Long Knives”?

General Roman Gavrilov, the deputy director of Rosgvardiya, or the National Guard of Russia....
What about the director?
Sounds like “I shot the deputy, but I did not shoot the sherrif”
Apologies to E Clapton.

Under Russian doctrine, the Rosgvardiya follows behind the frontline troop to cow civilian populations into submission and suppress any hint of resistance. According to various reports, Rosgvardiya were among the leading elements of the invasion forces For Russia to lead the invasion using their Secret Police Army was really dumb. For Ukraine to eliminate future Dirlewanger brigadiers is definitely smart.

RE #12. Right now, I think that is the plan. NATO does not have to get directly involved, although the U.S. and NATO have to talk tough. Getting as many weapons to Ukraine as possible, let them fight, let the invasion self destruct, and avoid World War III is how this is shaping up.
I also think this is completely by accident. This is the most incompetent war the world has seen since I don't know when.

Years ago, during the cold war, I remember reading something about USSR military doctrine. One of the things that shocked me was the amount of materiel support a Russian armored division requires during an invasion. The amounts of ammunition and fuel are on the order of several thousand tons PER DAY, per division.
Think of a chain saw blade. That's what an invasion by a Russian armored division is like. Instead of cutting into a huge tree, it is cutting into a country. The tanks, artillery pieces, APCs, fuel trucks, ammo carriers... those are like the little cutter teeth on the blade chain. In order to be effective, those teeth have to be fed into the operation as fast as the chain on a chain saw. If that slows down, the results are disastrous.
