The first amendment right to a free press is the right of the people to publish. The "press" was literally the machine, the printing press, not the class of people self-identified as "the press."

This means that we are all "fact-checkers." We all have the right to publish the facts as we see them. Others have the same right to publish how they see those facts.

Nobody has the right to declare themselves the arbiter of who can publish and who cannot.
