“No. They are telling their customers what they should want to see.”
I disagree. All that woke stuff, they figure they’re appealing to the widest possible base. If they really were socially conscious, they wouldn’t deal with the CCP.
Strip all the crap away and it is as it always was, profit above all else.
I provided aa accurate response to an inane claim.
I watch a lot of British TV shows and have noticed more and more blacks in them than ever before. I also noticed that just about every police chief, commander, boss, etc., is black more often than not.
““We all do it” BS is getting tiring.”
Sorry to hear you reject what the Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 1-3.
“So tell us are you gay?”
See my post #55 & 153. Given how you are behaving, though...you really DO sound like a homosexual! You have that pissy, “I want to slap you silly!” kind of sound. And your denials sound like deflecting.
Hi Diogenes (always enjoy following you here on FR, btw)!
Here's one of my favorite stories, working on MASON. On day one of any new episode shoot, most of us didn't know what notable stars would be guesting. On one such day, I needed to pick up a location guide from Gale, the Unit Production Manager. I was told she was outside the "Court room" building set, in the parking lot. I exited the building and began to cross the lawn which was elevated a good three feet above the south lot, abutted by a concrete wall. Next to the wall, was Gale, talking with some actress in a set chair. It was some girl and her back was up against the wall, and facing away from my approach. When I got about three feet away, I called out "Hey, Gale! Sorry to interrupt, but---" At that moment, the very startled actress in her chair, spun around to look at me. It was Linda Blair! I was stunned at recognizing her and stuttered, "Um, I'm sooo ss-sorry!! I didn't mean to startle you!... um... Gale..." I did my business with Gale and left, asap. As I walked away, back across the lawn, I smirked to myself, thinking "Wow! I made Linda Blair's head spin around!!"
The only names of note were a one time production of Dave Brubeck and Marian McPartland when they came to my area once.
Funny thing, I never saw the finished production until a year later when I made copies for some higher up.
My name wasn’t in the credits but someone who wasn’t there that night was.
The PD was a super detailed guy and I asked just to see. He couldn’t remember but maybe the trusted editor got something wrong. If it ever got remastered, he’d fix it. Sadly he died later. It’s trivial now like then because I was looking at any other line of work that paid something.
The misnamed credit was the tech manager favorite son. I was the common nobody who didn’t rate the time of day in his eyes.
When will people realize that its all a sham. Its a great day for African American actors at least. But I don’t like the one’s that have stupid doofus white guys and the only smart people are black. I didn’t like it when old movies had blacks as “Step-in-fetch its” and I don’t like it when whites are seen as toothless hillbillies. Racism is an ugly thing.
The ones who are left are married to black.
Objection! What is the relevance?
Since actors are employed in t.v. commercials, it’s a given that a lot of white actors and actresses are out of work now that white faces aren’t wanted. They should file a complaint with Actors Equity.
I have not watched T.V. in nearly 10 years now. Don’t miss it.
Well thank you! It's good to know that some people actually like to read what I write as opposed to those who always tell me i'm full of sh*t! :)
"Wow! I made Linda Blair's head spin around!!"
Ha! Now that's funny!
Last year when I noticed how much they were portraying black people as successful, talented, brilliant and heroic, the thought occurred to me that this is not necessarily a bad thing. I think it's good for people to have role models to which to aspire. I think the most annoying thing about it is the heavy handedness they have exhibited in making it so ubiquitous as to invite ridicule.
I think to create role models may be their claimed purpose, but I think they are really doing it as a consequence of the political pressure being exhibited in the last couple of years, most of which was motivated for the purpose of getting Trump.
Or STRAIGHT people either:-)
Ugh! I’m sorry that happened to you. When I became an Editor and Producer, credits were always a logistical nightmare. We would frequently, accidentally slight someone. In fact, next month, I’m going to join IMDB PRO to fix my own bio/credits, as over 50% of them are misattributed. I just want it set right for my goofy TV legacy. Anyway, I wonder if I can use that platform to at least correctly enter YOUR name on that show in the database??
Cite evidence of this wide base. You can’t because there isn’t any. Wake up, smarten up
“Oh, you are targeted all right, but not in a good way.”
Excellent point.
“Cite evidence of this wide base.”
Cite evidence there isn’t a wider base and businesses are simply throwing money away to feel good.
Don’t be dull.
Get lost. I don’t deal with stupid asses.
