You are fascinating!

So far I love a couple Jo Staffords from the ‘40s I had on CD. I love “I’ll Never Smile Again”.

TOURNAMENT OF CHART-TOPPERS – 1950’S II PING LIST
(This is a temporary ping list….so don’t worry!)

Welcome to all members who signed up already!

For those who have not signed up, please consider tuning into the Tournament of Chart-Toppers for the 1950s and casting your votes!

(Please PM me if you would like to be ON or OFF the ping list!)

RESULTS of Round 4: 8 play-off brackets, 16 pieces

Poll seed-year-BB rank-piece-act

1 1950 2 “Mona Lisa” Nat King Cole
8 1958 8 “Tequila” The Champs
4 1957 3 “Little Darlin’” The Diamonds
5 1959 6 “Dream Lover” Bobby Darin
2 1958 2 “All I Have to Do Is Dream” / “Claudette” The Everly Brothers
10 1959 2 “Mack the Knife” Bobby Darin
3 1955 2 “Rock Around the Clock” Bill Haley & His Comets
11 1954 4 “Sh-Boom” The Crew-Cuts

Notes:
-36 voters
-The only tight race was for “Mona Lisa”. At first it was losing but later votes pushed it slightly ahead of “Don’t Be Cruel” by Elvis.
-No Elvis left! The last 2 are gone now!
-”Rock Around the Clock” was the biggest run-away, over “Singing the Blues”

On to Round 5!

Well, he had many of the top 10s. But my favorite of those, “Hound Dog” disappeared early, and I’d prefer Heartbreak Hotel to have been left off the earliest of all of them!

Sometimes, unfortunately, it depends on the pairing.

I’m not totally displeased with the top 8 here, though.

I hope you didn’t take my remark disparagingly. It was only a thought.
The results are what they are. I’ve nothing invested in the outcome save the time I spend listening to songs I may not have heard in years. Obviously I enjoy the Tournament and appreciate your efforts to put it together or I wouldn’t participate.
Good job!
