What he saw was the June 16th test shot at White Sands NM. It’s 100 miles from El Paso.

Oh yes, I see. Thank you very much. :-)

Unless I’m very wrong, that was the first nuclear explosion in history. Or at least the first triggered by a human endeavor.

I think you’re correct. He said it lit up the entire western sky. People knew to expect weapons tests but of course he didn’t realize what he had seen until a month later.

He was a WWI vet who had been gassed and suffered lung damage. El Paso was considered a better climate for those with breathing difficulty than his native New Orleans.

And the largest mountain range in the world was is now known as the Iron Range in N WI, U P of MI and MN. at one time.

The largest deposit of Float Copper in the world is in the Keweenaw Peninsula in the U P of MI. The rift along the shore of the Big Lake up there is evidence that at one time N America was once nearly ripped in two. If one flies over the shoreline of the great lakes you can see the old water level lines/older shore lines, when the water level was much higher.

And the portion of Scotland above Loch Ness was once part of N America.

So there is that too.

As far as California? Who cares.

Little boy is basically a rilfle barrel

Cordite at top fired by ignited by primer set off by barometric device and Archie radar

Blows I think less enriched uranium down barrel, into more enriched or vice versa causing nuke explosion

Simpler than I would have figured

A fascinating subject is the shore bombardment of Japan from naval ships. Right down to destroyers hitting small villages.

There are a WHOLE bunch of panic punks all over the net now “predicting” what is going to happen, and all that.

The best prelim estimate I get is that it will cool the southern hemisphere. How much? A whole .00111 degree C. Thats all. Wont even notice it. And even that is a guess for now...not even close to 1 degree F increase.

As for the blast, they got a rough idea and it will be until they can get around that thing and take a look to determine.
Its gonna be about a 4-5 VEI. The ash cloud did not go up very high at all. It was the steam that got shot way the hell up.

Yeah it looks real simple compared to Fat Man. Looks like both the “bullet” and the target were U-235 according to wiki. Thin Man was “inefficient” wasting unexploded U-235 I guess. The two bombs were named for Hammett pulp fiction, The Thin Man stories and Fat Man after a character in The Maltese Falcon.

Oh, how horrible to hear that. I am really sorry for him and the trouble he went through.:-(

Still it is fascinating for me - as a historian - to hear such stories from “the horse’s mouth”, instead of just reading about them in books.

I am not a troll, just someone whose been around a long time and am looking for Truth and Purpose.

Use your mind and review the evidence. The Tonga "event" was unlike any volcanic explosion ever witnessed. Nothing adds up to a natural volcanic event, and just a bit too convenient...

And here come the FR conspiracists and trolls that have been in place since FR came into being. They won't use their God-given intellect and open their minds to the possibilities of something they don't understand being real, so ridicule that which they cannot comprehend. Sad commentary in that case. Or they are paid trolls, assigned to deploy Alinsky's fifth rule: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.”

So be it. Choice is, either wake up to the possibilities of things beyond your current comprehension, or die in ignorance like a sheep at the end of the slaughterhouse chute...

“...they don’t understand being real, so ridicule that which they cannot comprehend.”

If we truly are in eschatological “end times”, there are going to be a lot of events that people cannot comprehend.

“Nothing adds up to a natural volcanic event,”

It ALL adds up to natural volcanic event. ALL of it. All you need to do is understand the dynamics of what happens when water gets in contact with magma which has gases within it.

You panic punks are doing more damage through your stupid mindless conspiracies than any propaganda machine could ever do.

My son was wondering if Tonga was going to cause major cooling for a year or two. Answer to that is that it only produced about 2% of the ask volume produced by Pinitubo, and not much sulfur. Here is an excellent satellite photo of the shock wave traveling across the globe. No wonder their ears were hurting.
