The ways to get things going again are: 1, remove all government mandates, regulations, tariffs, and taxes; and 2, remove all government protection of unions.

The recovery would be measured in days.

I thought the same thing this week after a stream of unbelievable headlines. For example, being sued by illegals and wanting to settle for each to the tune of $450,000. Like what are they going to do, leave? Why should they have any standing or rights of any kind. You can bet your sweet bippy it you were in mesico or anywhere else you would not get the time of day if you broke into the country and tried to sue the giverment.

Yeah, the Babylon Bee is going to have to come up with some whoppers to top reality these days with plugs and his gang of saboteurs and fools running things.

If there was a nuclear war with Russia, Biden would launch our nukes against New York, LA, Washington, Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, San Fran, Boston, and so on.

Are you serious?

You don’t think sitting there for days on end. paying the charter rate for the ship every day and not knowing how long you are going to be stuck isn’t incentive enough to make other plans?

Professor of what?

It's reminiscent of how people were fined if they could not afford to buy healthcare.

I'm not into ocean-based logistics, but I believe (from reports) that there is more to shifting ports of call than just fuel, food, and time. As I recall the story, there is a huge amount of work dealing with US Customs, overland logistics (trucks and rail), and the PAPERWORK. So no, I don't think that the points you mention are incentive enough. I remember all the work I had to do to get electronic equipment into England and back.

Read my post again. The daily fines + normal expenses are plenty of motivation to switch ports.

Give it to joe. He found a way to make the situation even worse! Although ultimately it would get better because no one will ship anything to us

True, everyone is skimming this article without critical thought.

Indeed, the writer or his editor are confused. They report that each day a small fraction of containers are moved off the docks to waiting ????? (that they don't say trucks might be to evade naming the cause-Newsom’s greenies).

Also, the well paid dockworkers unions are slowing down. Why?

Ersatz Joe (Obama/Jarrett) are smashing the last vestige of free market Capitalism. Within 3 years, all of us will be equally suffering in a centrally planned economy. I believe these homeless or illegal aliens will be forcibly housed in our homes, just like the communists in Russia took over private homes...in the name of the collective good.

If the fine is larger than the total cost of going through the Panama Canal and docking in Florida, it might lift a lot of anchors.

carriers will be charged $100 for each lingering container per day starting Nov. 1.

Typical carrier has 20,000 equivalent 20 ft containers....so $400,0000 a day is some serious money.

Nice going Brandon..

Isn’t “Red State” one of the never-Trump groups?

They are responsible for this nightmare.

F Joe wants the optics of clogged ports to disappear like Haitians under the bridge. He thinks threats of fines will make the ships leave and people will think the supply chain problem solved. It’s all about controlling the news cycle.

Joe couldn’t solve his own FAMILY problems.

WHY would any thinking person think he could solve ours?

He is a LOSER, and he has ALWAYS been a loser and without the help of Zuck bribing stupid people who could manipulate the election, greedy Lefties, stupid Lefties and DOMINION, HE NEVER WOULD HAVE “WON” THIS ELECTION.

WE ELECTED THE VILLAGE IDIOT TO BE OUR PRESIDENT AND THE LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD??????????

I. THINK. NOT.

Clueless Joe’s intentions are not to solve the problem but to make it worse but, to be fair, Joe is not running the show. He’s just a sock puppet who’s being directed by his evil handlers, whoever they are. Hence, my tag line.

In addition to fining the ships the port will also fine the truck drivers who wait too long to pick up their loads, even though the trucks are at the port, but have not been called to get their loads.

What’s worse than a hot mess? There must be something.

through the Panama Canal and docking in Florida

Trouble is that a considerable number of container ship are too large or the port too shallow to take them. I don’t know if FL can handle those ships which might have to join the long lines at the Ports of NY and NJ. Not to mention the mountains of paperwork such a switch would entail.
