The Alphabet Stew is promoted to pull in supporters, appear to be inclusive, and try to coop and stifle dissension.
The Race Marxists (BLM and their ilk) only want to take over the organization and it’s assets, and turn them to their own purposes. And in today’s environment, if this doesn’t happen immediately, the attack starts.
Boston Pride made the fatal mistake of trying to ingratiate themselves with their enemy (not seeing them as the enemy), and apologized. The fight was over before it ever properly started.
The article is far more interesting and instructive than you might think, just for the case study in passive organizational leadership in a hostile social environment.

I haven’t read the decision lately, but I thought they just declared unconstitutional the laws didn’t allow same-sex couples to marry.
I was under the impression SCOTUS could only declare something unconstitutional and that they couldn’t establish new laws that would require issuance of marriage licenses because that’s a legislative responsibility.
My understanding is that not all States have replaced the marriage laws that were declared unconstitutional which might result in a problem concerning marriage in those states.
Admittedly, I haven’t looked into this lately.

The Left always needs a boogeyman to revolt against. It is just their means to their true end goal - power.
That is why Hillary’s thesis was titled “There is only the Fight”.
Their goal is not to actually rectify wrongs, but to use them as a vehicle to take power.
Every movement for the “liberation” of whatever group contains the seeds of its own destruction. They advocate for same-sex marriage or for the legalization of abortion or for the end of racial segregation and when those things are accomplished they are left with 2 options: 1) Admit that their organizations and the activist jobs they supply are no longer needed and disband or 2) Look for some fresh grievance. So lucrative is the grievance industry that it is a pleasant surprise when the first option is adopted.

Maybe not parading as much, but around here, generally a very conservative county, homos and other detritus are flying a lot more queer flags on the porch lately. Closest one is about 4 blocks from me: more than close enough.
Gay whites were forcefully reminded that they can only check one victim box and are therefore a part of the oppressor group in the eyes of multiple box-checkers.
Don’t have any queer flags close to me, but sadly, in my old neighborhood of my youth, they are flying more and more. And a restaurant near my mom’s house has one hanging in their window. That’s one restaurant I won’t be patronizing.
Schadenfreude here. The whole intersectionality thing is a hierarchy of oppression into which only one ticket won't get anyone admission, an aristocracy of grievance with a ruthless pecking order. Its activists claim to be attempting to be inclusive but in fact are suicidally exclusive. The events the author depicts were, in truth, an attempt by BLM activists to take over the organization, and in doing so they destroyed it.
In any political movement, activists face an existential question: what do we do if we win?
They become the norm that they've wasted all that emotional energy cursing. And it turns out they were happier cursing. Can't shed a tear.
Pride before fall.
Anyone who thinks that that means there’s a shortage of fags in Boston would be sadly mistaken.
