Yes we do have too many. For along time I thought I could talk Joe into switching (I know him) parties. A democrat in WV is a different animal from what we see in D.C. and all the liberal cities. Being a democrat is a religion and every Baptist preacher is a cheer leader. Joe’s father and grandfather all the way back to when WV was still VA (well 80 yrs anyway)were all democrats. It was expected of every son to follow in their father’s steps politically. Every time I talked to Joe about switching, he just grinned and mumbled something about preserving the Unions, etc. I finally gave up. Even though he is a a centrist I have no illusion that he will ever buck the democrates.
Thee most intelligent thing for those two to do is like I said.
Go independent.
They’d lose the party money but, if they play their cards right, they can play the other two parties like a violin.
Joe is in a far better position to do that.
I fully suspect that the split in the Senate will be VERY close for a long time.
