Sticks and stones?

Yes, it is vindictive. They are abusing our troops because they can. If the first pilot in line told them to piss-off they would soon not have enough pilots. It happened in ‘99 or so with the Anthrax crap.

Perhaps you need to brush up on the historical precedent: On the 6th of January 1777, George Washington wrote to Dr. William Shippen Jr., ordering him to inoculate all of the forces that came through Philadelphia. He explained that: Necessity not only authorizes but seems to require the measure, for should the disorder infect the Army... we should have more to dread from it, than from the Sword of the Enemy. The urgency was real. Troops were scarce and encampments had turned into nomadic hospitals of festering disease, deterring further recruitment. Both Benedict Arnold and Benjamin Franklin, after surveying the havoc wreaked by Variola in the Canadian campaign, expressed fears that the virus would be the army's ultimate downfall. (Fenn 2001, 69)

My son is active Military and a JAG lawyer (a Major). The Unified Code of Military Justice has provisions for forced vaccination. When my son joined he received several required vaccinations. When he deployed, he received many more. Note that a soldier who refuses a lawful order risks court martial. Some cases are already being litigated...

Of course, civilians have a right to refuse the vaccine. That said, employers often have requirements designed to protect the work force. Before I retired, my employer brought in nurses to adminsiter Flu Shots. Participation was voluntary. Most of us were happy to take them. They were not mandatory.

Here in Western NY, the insurance companies embrace the concept of a primary care physician. Mine is very good and I trust his judgement. When I have questions, I call the office or make an appointment for longer questions. We each want (and need) well-informed medical information. Your primary care physician is usually well informed. Hope this helps.

Lt. Col. Scheller threw down for a much larger issue and nobody followed suit

unfortunately i’m now afraid it IS in the hands of the lawyers on this one... damn

Lawyers also intimidate doctors, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, manufacturers and insurance companies, among many others, to such a point that they are forcing up the costs of everything. Almost all product sales now come with some form of disclaimer.

Eventually any decision would get reversed or overturned. Like as soon as vaxed people start dying off in statistically significant numbers.

You can always tolerate the injustice for a few years until the atmosphere changes.

You can even shoot a Kennedy dead and get paroled if you wait long enough. This won’t be that long.

I do take your point.

Scheller has not yet been released has he?

Reversed too late for this cadre.

As for me, I’d tell them to pack sand and see what happens.

You really intend to courts martial me for not taking a vaccine that doesn’t work, isn’t legally and fully approved and has a growing list of side effects?

I know, logic, legality and good sense don’t matter.

Modern military lawyers are nothing but Soviet Zampolit. Political counterparts to actual warfighters.

Most military lawyers are bought and paid for. Trust me, I’ve seen it first hand, I know.

The argument does not hold water except by force and in the absence of reason.

Perhaps you need to tell the whole story.

The difference is that Washington actually had a sick military population with smallpox (variola). There is no generally sick and dying population now in the military.

By the late 1700 smallpox inoculation had been around since the 1500s in China and had a very low mortality rate even in crude form of 1 in 1,000 or less. While maybe not common it was well proven and well known but not by today’s standards.

The vaccines jabbed with up to now were the same as agreed to in the contract to sign up, not this one.

Some have already been sick. Natural immunity is 13x more effective than the jab (infinitely so in my book) and the jab is contraindicated for those with natural immunity. No provision has been made for these, that just stupid.

I have never taken a flu shot but it has always been available but more importantly it has remained my choice. I still don’t get sick. The evidence against the flu shot for causing problems is not great unlike these vaccines.

We are a legalistic society but not a just or logical one. Not everything you can do is a thing you should do.

When I get a jab from the same bottle as plugs, austin and the chairman of the JCS I might relent but probably not.

I’d love to stay and chat but I don’t have the time.

Yep, a lot of former soldiers (including officers) I know are getting vocal about this consequences aside

Years ago, before a deployment to the ME, some enlisted refused to be vaccinated. They were provided legal advice, then were given a choice: Obey a lawful order or be court-martialed.

Once the vaccine was authorized, there remained no legal defense for military members to refuse.

“Any Dishonorable Discharge would easily be overturned by a competent civilian attorney.”

Not hardly! It isn’t as if this issue has never come up before.

They can afford to. I only wish someone with some guts that could help the helpless would stand up and do something right.

Problem is, there aren’t any.

I never had any choice about whether to get vaccinated in the Army. Never occurred to us to say no.
