And your use of verboten terms will be recorded and collected and will lower your social credit.
Could lead to intervention if needed.
Some years ago I had a copy of MS Word 95. I was doing some writing and I typed the sentence, “The man came into the room.” The grammar checker popped up stating “Gender Specific” and wanted me to change it to “the person came into the room.
This was really annoying. Luckily, the then Microsoft VP in charge of Word was a friend of many years. I complained to him and some months later I received a complimentary copy of MS Word 95 with the gender-specific fixer removed.
I hope they didn’t put it back in.
MS Word 16.5 on Mac (Microsoft 365) doesn’t do that. It happily accepts “dumbass” and “dumbasses” and doesn’t scold me.
“No kidding. They changed the song?!?”
Yeppers. The last time I heard it on regular radio (not Sirius/XM) they had deleted that whole verse.
A real pizzer if you ask me.
Not trying to be a “smartass”, but doesn’t using MS Word make a person a “dumbass”? 😀
Not my copy...even when I check spelling and grammar.
When they introduced the “ribbon” in 2007, that was it for me.
Glad I have my old CD.
I don’t like the “ribbon” either. I found a plugin for 2010 that gives me the old style back.
I’m looking for the macro-aggression feature.
And speaking of “woke.” Last year my IPAD popped up with a new “feature” where I could “show my pride” by giving my ipad a homo rainbow flag theme. So sick of this woke crap.
Remember the hubbub about the Orb. Was supposed to be the next best thing since sliced bread.
And then it was gone, apparently to celebrate rearranging the menu structure so as to obliterate decades of accumulated user experience with their product. I think they’re on the third version since the major menu overhaul and I still can’t find squat in Word, even though I could probably tell you from memory where it was in the 2003 version, which was essentially the same as all versions prior.
Welcome to our Brave New World.

Oh for the good old days !
OMG. Never saw that either.
The ribbon messed with my keystroke shortcuts so I never left 2003. Once when applying for a job I took a MS Word test, and when I told the tester I was finished she was surprised. Commented that it was too soon, and said I hadn’t touched my mouse. Guess she thought I was lying. Anyhow, I got the job. Hate the ribbon.
Don’t recall the Orb at all. Sounds sinister or other-worldly out something.
And Gates wants to put a shot in my arm.
