When 9/11 was happening, I said there’ll never be another hijacking ever again. No way will people just stand back in terror while they’re going to be killed anyway, so might as well fight.
Yup... in a heartbeat.
Hijackings, monster inflation, high gas prices….the 70’s are back.
here’s a new one..setting a lady’s hair on fire on a bus.
SanFran, I think...
(YBM) Young black male. No mugshot yet.
Um, from the video he looks “white”.
If the flight originates in Portland there’s a good chance the passengers will join in on the hijacking.
The guy was freaking out about something. Too much CNN before boarding maybe?
Attempted hijacking or some nut with booze- or drug-induced phobias?
Anyone else annoyed with that “gotta stop the plane” BS? I swear, I’d have kicked him in the head everytime he said it. He wouldn’t have said it too many times.
Looked like a skinny white antifa pos.
That had always been my take as well until a couple of years ago. I was visiting a friend in Germany and we were both bitching about the inconveniences of the security measures associated with air travel. I pointed out the uselessness of them by stating that no hijacking will ever happen again anyway for the reasons you give. He disagreed so I said it already happened on Flight 93. My German friend looked me straight in the eye and said, "Yes, but those were Americans." I thought about it a bit and decided he's right. A flight without a preponderance of American passengers could probably be hijacked.
As a matter of fact, not long after that there was an attempted hijacking of a train from Belgium to Paris. It took three American young men - not much past boyhood - to tackle the terrorist. It sounded like all the other passengers just sat there - except for an Englishman who helped and later said, "Who knew - courage is contagious!"
I will probably never fly again. I flew once for an elk hunt, drop shipped my bow and gear. Pain in the ass.
That being said, if ever I do fly again and some jackass starts acting up, I will beat the dog-stuffing out of him and his momma will not recognize her baby.
Why only "male" passengers? Why were some of the other 36 genders excluded from subduing the hijacker?
I keep a couple of HVAC flex duct zip ties in my carry on backpack in case something like this ever happens. Think a zip tie on steroids about 4’ long and much bigger in cross section.

It remains to be seen if this guy had any political motives, but I think what’s happening is flying is stressful to many people to begin with, then you add in stress a lot of these people are feeling over Covid, combine that with alcohol and anti-anxiety drugs a lot of flyers are consuming and you have people freaking out on planes....
Some people can be affected by high altitude flying, experiencing a condition called ''ofhypoxia'' that can cause nausea , dizziness and sometimes irrational , aggressive or even violent behavior.
