On March 2, Fauci estimates a 2% mortality rate from the virus. He’s off by a factor of 10, give or take.

By February 6, 2021, One-third of the U.S. population had already been infected. This according to NPR.

So the lethality of COVID-19 appears to me to be much less than the case fatality rate would suggest.

But I not a doctor or mathematician.

that was about the mortality rate estimate our hospital had for covid positives april before last who ended up in icu.

not even close for the whole population. only 10% of people *testing* for covid ended up having it. only 10% of those were hospitalized and only about 10% of those went into icu. even most of those survived. a small number of those died under treatment. and that’s not saying anything about comorbidities. and that’s not saying anything about those who didn’t bother to get tested.

yes we had an empty hospital for months.

I understand that, but I think Fauci might have been referencing the same number John Hopkins is using?

John Hopkins has generally been pretty reliable given the garbage in - garbage out recording of numbers for this virus.

I was a little shocked at the number for Mexico also.

“...but this number was in March of 2020 when we still did not know much about it.”

WE? This is Fauci! Our fearless drug lord expert who knows everything!

I said 6 months ago that Fauci was going to end up looking like the south end of a northbound horse.

If you look at all the people that the media made saints out of during the Trump era, he will be the most remembered by far and not in a good way.

In fact, at this point he was generally wrong about almost everything and the most outrageous thing might be that he helped to fund it despite being told not to do so.

If Fauci was comparing the CFR of covid to the IFR of the flu that doesn’t make any sense.

I don’t trust the numbers that have been thrown about, always changing with different interpretations. The old saying “statistics don’t lie, statiticians do” is very true. I’m no expert but I bet with a little bit of effort I could come up with numbers that sound convincing. In fact I have done so before, with 96% accuracy.

The democrats always want to instill fear in the masses in whatever they do and guess why? Because it works.

Wow the stupidity never stops. .2% of the US has already died of Covid, 600k out of 300mm. .45% of NYC died of it, 32,000 out of 7.5mm. So the mortality rate has to be higher than that, because not everyone in the US had Covid, Let’s ask the brilliant thinkers here - did you have Covid? Did everyone you know have Covid? Did your spouse have Covid? Did your mother have Covid? So lets admit that there are only 34 mm diagnosed cases of Covid in the US - and everyone has been tested, 500 milllion tests on 300mm people. The IFR is about 1.7% for diagnosed cases. Berenson is a useless jerk.

You are correct. Not everyone has been tested so the rates we see are based on incompete data.
