Maybe sipee cups for their OJ too?
I was thinking the same thing. That's just an ordinary breakfast, but served in a bowl.
Then do you slice the cornmeal mush and brown/heat in a pan, serve with syrup?
That was how my mom would serve it, when we were kids. I don’t know if she ever made it herself; seems like she would buy a loaf-shaped chunk. ??
ummm Let me get this straight... the bowls aren’t made of pancake. It’s just that you serve the same old pancake in a bowl instead of a plate? Just wow, call the patent office! What’s next, coffee bowls?
Tasty stuff, but 95% carbohydrate calories no one burns off anymore.
Diabetes and Fatty Liver in a bowl, helping to keep 25% of the world in an inflamed liver condition.
Don't even ask.
So if I understand this correctly, IHOP is going to take a plate of pancakes, with your choice of toppings and turn it into a bowl of pancakes, with your choice of toppings?
Freaking ingenious.
Sliced and browned in bacon grease. Served with butter and a bit of maple syrup - not enough to run into my eggs.
Here's the base recipe I use. (nothing amazing)
Ingredients
3 cups water
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup yellow cornmeal 1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Optional (one or more of the following)
1/2 yellow onion, finely mined or 1 teaspoon onion powder
1 tablespoon white sugar
minced jalapenos or cowboy candy
whatever you might think tastes good
Instructions
Heat water to boiling in a sauce pan. Reduce to a simmer. Stir in salt, pepper and cornmeal. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon until thick.
Optionally, stir in other ingredients at the same time as cornmeal.
Pour mixture into a lightly greased 9x5 inch loaf pan. Cover and refrigerate until firm.
I rarely make it the same way. I've even thrown in chopped up leftover vegetables. Pickled okra is good too. I like to play salt, vinegar and sweet off each other.
Sounds good. Thanks!
People are weird. What next?
(Is the bowl edible too?)
Just no! π
I don’t understand. It just looks like a stack of pancakes in a bowl rather than on a plate. IHoP has always had specialty pancakes.
