He's never played any position other than quarterback. Now he thinks he's going to come in and beat out men who have played tight end for years and years?
There is nothing particularly unique about it. He's a QB who showed some talent in college but couldn't translate to the NFL. He's never played tight end at any level so what's to believe his pass catching or blocking skills are unique? I suspect his success in the NFL won't be any better than in MLB.
Tim Tebow’s NFL League Records
TebowMost yards per completion in a playoff game: 31.6 against Pittsburgh in 2012.
Most 30+ yard passes in a playoff quarter: Tebow was the first NFL player ever to complete four passes of 30 yards or more in a single quarter of an NFL playoff game, with 51, 30, 58, & 40. And this was against the 2011-2012 Pittsburgh Steelers rated #1 in defense in the NFL in various, especially relevant categories.
Fewest passes to 300+ yards in any NFL game: According to the authoritative Bleacher Report, Tim Tebow is the only quarterback in the Super Bowl era to throw for 300+ yards in only ten completions.
Only quarterback to throw three 50+ yard passes in a playoff game: since the NFL/AFL merger in 1970 according to Bleacher Report for 51, 58, & 80. Even outside of playoff games, this feat happens only once in a blue moon, as throwing three 50+ yard passes hasn’t been done in any NFL game in over twenty years.
Longest touchdown pass in NFL playoff history in overtime: 80 yards, and in the shortest overtime play, 11 seconds, almost a minute quicker than any previous NFL postseason overtime.
Fastest to six game-winning drives: Against the Chicago Bears, Tim Tebow earned a Super Bowl-era NFL league record with his sixth game-winning drive in the fourth quarter or overtime in just his first eleven games!
13+ Point Fourth-Quarter Comebacks: By way of comparison, John Elway, two-time Super Bowl winner, second “most-winningest” NFL quarterback ever, one of the NFL’s all-time comeback kings with a great combination of game winning drives and fourth-quarter comebacks who earned his sixth fourth-quarter comeback after 29 games, had won after trailing in the fourth quarter by 13+ points twice in 16 seasons. For this amazing Tebow NFL record, he overcame a 13 or more point deficit in the fourth quarter twice in his only first four games.
Most yards per attempt in a playoff game: Tebow threw for 15 yards per attempt against the Steelers.
Best-selling NFL Jersey: Tebow’s #15 became the best-selling NFL jersey when he was drafted, the best-selling ever for a rookie, and has remained among the highest-selling jerseys and in January 2012 is second only to Green Bay’s 2011 super bowl winner Aaron Rodgers. [Other Very UNRELATED Jersey Record: See below for $10,000 paid by Bob and Doug for two football jerseys.]
Gene doesn’t drink, he doesn’t do drugs and a lie detector test he took on live television some years back supported his fidelity to his girlfriend/wife of 30+ years (seems he lied about his boasts of bedding over 5,000 women).
So, vulgar lyrics and rockstar lifestyle aside, he doesn’t seem like too bad of a guy. I’ve met worse in church...
Did I forget to mention he took his Ma to synagogue on a regular basis?
They may list him as TE, but his role could be more similar to that of Tasom Hill in New Orleans, as he fits that mold very well. As Meyer said, his intangibles are off the charts., and they have accomplished great things together. It’s a great story of hope, not sure why you’re so negative unless you don’t like his message, however I and many others are all for it.
Tebow has a powerful arm, he can power run, he can block, and I suspect he has a decent pair of hands if Meyer is interested in him playing TE. That’s a unique skill set. Or at least a rare one.
<< I suspect his success in the NFL won’t be any better than in MLB. >>
Perhaps not, but again, his leadership abilities are top-notch, so if he fails as a player, he’ll likely become a member of the coaching staff. All in all, he’s worth the risk. Unlike Kaep, who has zero redeeming qualities on or off the field.
I’m hopeful for Tim but let’s see if he can make it past training camp.
With song lyrics like “Heaven’s on Fire” and “set the demons free and watch them fly” he’s hardly a role model of Tebow’s class, much less a great spokesperson for Christian values. As I said, hopefully he’s moving beyond his past, but until he’s more outspoken about his possible repentance his penchant for simply gathering attention can’t be ignored.
Your basement dwelling shit talking is noted.
Please, list your accomplishments...
Well I seem to do a pretty good job of annoying you so there's that.
Pussy.
He came across as a real every-day dude that has a different role to play on stage and on camera. Was entertaining to see him laugh about his stage persona; he didn't slag his music however.
Guess my take-away was that the pop music industry is a more widely accepted version of WWF but not more legitimate.
I rather think of a guy some Christians were judging because he still smoked tobacco......His response was ..”You should have seen me before I was a Christian”
Oh stuff it. WINNERS figure a way to win, LOSERS always come up with every reason and excuse why they can’t.
Why start stabbing someone who has gone out of their way to defend someone on OUR SIDE against the howling mob?
Meyer remembers how Tebow fired up the Gators after they lost to Ole Miss and powered them onto the National Championship that season.
I would volunteer to defend Israel as well, with my life if required.
Because the guy has lived a life of total sin, so his words must be carefully parsed, and questioned. As I said several times now, I truly hope he has changed. But he’s hardly someone *I* want to hold up as an example of good and right, based on these tiny snippets. I don’t expect Tebow to acknowledge this either, except in a joking manner, if at all.
Whatever his public persona, Gene is a decent family man.
We used to see him sitting in the bleachers with the rest of us watching our daughters play in volleyball tournaments in Southern California, back in the day.
