I have no problem with that as long as the vaccine is MANDATORY. You can play childish games with service members. If the vaccine is MANDATORY everyone gets the shot and the government is responsible. If it is OPTIONAL then you can’t put any restrictions on people who opt out. Odd that this concept is so tough for folks to get.
As long as it is mandatory for all then so be it... but they are pretending that it is optional... if it is optional they can’t restrict people who don’t take the option... that means it is not optional. Dear god we are/have descended into dystopia...
“The commander has no business trying to get everyone vaccinated unless the vaccine is mandatory.”
He isn’t. He’s saying to protect the integrity of the deployable unit, of which Fort Campbell is one of the major players in the US military, there are hoops to jump through. The military member is responsible for staying within the boundaries of the mission needs. If he/she decides to do something, like contact with covid patients, and is not protected, then he/she is placing the mission in jeopardy. Now if the member decides not to take the vaccine, and on his own, contracts the virus, he will lose his world wide capacity and will not be able to deploy with his unit if it is sent downrange and it will be a violation of article 92, a court martial offense.
According to the AMA, life in the military operates under a somewhat different set of rules. Understandably, demands made of the military exceed those made of civilians, and the requirement to protect the sanctity of a soldier’s body is not equivalent to the requirement to protect that of a civilian along with increased duties and heightened risks, members of the military face lowered requirements for informed consent to medical treatment.
“ There is no data to support these activities.”
Iraq researched Anthrax disease as a biological weapon in the early 80s, and it was assumed that Saddam Hussein had created bombs and missiles loaded with the Anthrax bacteria by 1991 in preparation for war. In preparation, the United States Department of Defense utilized an anthrax vaccine to protect military forces deploying to the middle east. However, the FDA had not yet tested this particular vaccine for use against inhaled anthrax.
Vaccinations were required by all forces, not just US troops. BioPort, now Emergent Biosolutions, was the exclusive manufacturer of BioThrax at the time, and this vaccine had proven to be effective against the bacterium that’s acquired through the skin, but not when the bacterium is inhaled. So, there was no Food and Drug Administration licensing for use against inhaled Anthrax. Therefore, all vaccinations given to military personnel were considered an “off-label” or experimental use of the vaccine.
Gulf war syndrome has beren linked to exposure to nerve agents tabun (GA), sarin (GB), and cyclosarin (GF) and the blister agents sulfur-mustard and lewisite.

Despite concerns about its safety, the Department of Defense mandated that all military personnel be vaccinated with BioThrax prior to deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan. They then expanded the anthrax vaccine immunization program to all US Military forces and DOD civilian contractors. With the expansion, BioPort Corp requested FDA approval for to include aerosol exposure approval, switching to intramuscular injections, and reducing the number of doses. In 1997, the DOD required that 2.5 million military personnel receive the Anthrax vaccine. By 1998, it was mandated for all civilian DOD personnel as well. So there is plenty of data to support the use of emergency use of vaccines.
“…idiotic compliance with a bunch of folks who graduated from our military academies...highly recommend you watch this video and self reflect.”
Self reflect from a media member? You might want to expand your informative support. Since you brought it up, I have 3 degrees from universities scattered around the US. Not one of them is from a military facility. I got my information on the street in the business about half my life and they finally retired me from all three areas I worked in medically at 100%. Twice. But I am also a graduate of The United States Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, working on line. Too busy doing my job talking care of training for a few thousand soldiers. Have a good day.

wy69, thank you. I see you for who you are. You are the one I fear will destroy the country. Smart, energetic and grossly misguided. The CCP has a ticket for you my friend. The rest of us are screwed and you have your hand on the handle... I will fight though. How we got to the point that highly intellectual people such as yourself became so grossly misled will be the study in a couple of years. I have several friends like you that I can’t even talk to at the moment because they are in convulsions from what they have done to our country. Really hope you wake up my friend, you are impressive.
“...you are impressive.”
Thanks for the warm fuzzy, but I’m not smart, I just know how the game is played due to being in it for most of my life. And it’s a game the civilian world neither knows anything about, or care, other than what they’re told so they can live their lives, make their bucks, feed their family, and look forward to a retirement filled with trips to Vegas or Hawaii or that castle on the hill. Civilians don’t understand the commitment these people like those at Fort Campbell have made and what they are expected to do and should expect from themselves as they made the choice and there is no half way.
Their job is keep our country, and all the people in it, safe using any and all resources to the max. These are the people that are willing to go and do for you and to pay the ultimate price for their dedication. Everyone knows about battles fought and losses from all the publicized battles. Here’s some from the list of sorties many you’ve probably never heard of from our history:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_battles_with_most_United_States_military_fatalities
And the above is what Fort Campbell, along with other reservations, does. And unless it is within the agenda of the media or political parties, you will probably never hear about it unless it serves their purpose.
A warrior is a special person. They have committed to a lifestyle so possibly toxic other people do not many times understand it. It’s a world of order and if it isn’t there, more would die. And the civilians would be mixed in even on our soil. Here is a list of the new enemy of yours and what they did. For modern purposes, please reference 2000 forward as it would cut down on your reading and make it easier:

Let’s equate the actions of the members at Fort Campbell to something you might have:
A contractor signs a contract with you that says he is going to fix your roof. You not only pay him, but house him, feed him, and buy all his tools, clothing and equipment, and assist his family to do it. And then he decides at the last minute it’s too dangerous to use the ladders you both agreed upon in such a high place so he refuses to do the job the way you wanted it and after the expense to get to it. So you offer him the contracted way you want it done or he will be fired. But in the meantime, while you are looking for another roofer, your roof starts to collapse, which is why you contracted to get it done before, and your living room furniture is destroyed along with family heirlooms you can’t replace.
Same equate. But while you’re looking for the other contractor who will sign another contract in the case of the military, and with the bad work done by the roofer you bring in as it is the only one you can get in a now emergency and he’s not totally trained or experienced, those heirlooms are people, not trinkets, and more may be detroyed.
This is not the civilian world. Some of the people in the military world won’t be coming back in many cases as displayed here. And throwing a wrench in the engine at the last minute when you need the job done, makes it worse than it was when the call came. And someone else might have to carry their load. And for them and their family, is that how they should be treated?
I hope you and those friends you mentioned can come to an understanding. They might have been like me and had a job to do that was situated in that toxic environment. I thank deity they returned if they were. And if they weren’t, and they are trying to destroy the tools or the engine by throwing in that wrench, it makes me sad cause others will die. Good luck.
