Russia already has a border with Estonia and Latvia. They have the Baltic port of Kaliningrad which is between Poland and Lithuania.
They could take all three of the Baltic states and never brush Poland.
Other than whizzing off the Poles that is. I don’t think Putin wants to bite off that kind of mouthful (Poland) since he’s already dealing with the Ukraine and would then be bringing four countries into guerrilla war territory.
Besides, Russia already has numerous ports around the Baltic including in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Poland, Germany, etc and so on.
What Russia REALLY wanted was the warm weather port in Crimea. They got that.
