With that being said, one of those friends has literally thousands of rounds stored at home but he is constantly looking for more because he shoots weekly.
I'm in S.E. Michigan and all 9 MM ammo is non existent. So last Monday my friend stopped into a Dunhams that just received a shipment of ammo and he was able to purchase a 3 box limit. So he gave me a call and about two hours later at 2:00 p.m. I drove over to the store as many other vehicles were pulling into the lot only to discover they had sold out their new shipment inventory of all ammo........LOL!
It's no wonder the ammunition manufacturers can't keep up with the demand..........And with the possibility of this new administration adding additional taxes on ammo, it's going to be even harder to find it......
Speak with civility, or leave the discussion. This is a forum for responsible, mutually respectable adults. We do not have time to coddle to the immature and flagrantly-spoken.
NICS checks aren’t functionally useful for creating a registration database. No weapon description with serials.
The Form 4473 is the primary records tying a firearm to it’s INITIAL purchaser. This form is NOT routinely delivered to any government agency unless requested ( most often in connection with a criminal investigation ).
However, upon close of the FFL’s business and surrender of license, ALL 4473’s are to be turned in to the ATF.
If they cause FFL’s to be required to deliver Form 4473 to ATF on completion of the transaction (frankly, any time before the shutdown of the FFL’s business) - then you can assume gun registration is the intent.
Given that they digitized the entire US Patent Office patent records in about one year, it wouldn’t take long to scan a few years worth of 4473’s. Even then - they could only track to the bunch of terrible canoers and no-question-gun-buyback sellers that first purchased the firearm.
What a shame it would be if global warming caused a rash of old paperwork and files to spontaneously combust. Everyone’s boater safety ratings would skyrocket.

They assume each NICS check is a gun sole. About half of NICS checks in 2020 were for gun permits or permit rechecks.
The number of guns sold was about 21 million, not 40 million.
