Do we need 50 or just 48? If six RINOs somehow abstain (rather than vote no) it would be 47-47.

He’s squishy, so that’s good news.

I have no idea. But he will probably vote like the good soldier he is and take his cue from Mitch.

= = = =

Per LS.....

We just need 50. I checked with court guru Zen Master. Pence CAN break a tie and has ALREADY broken a tie on an appellate judicial nominee.

We can lose Collins, MurCowSki, and Mionion.

BTW, the fact that Gardner probably has no chance now frees him up to vote for the nominee; and the fact that McSally is in a tight race works to her advantage with hesitant Rs. Now every R in AZ will come out, and we have a 100,000 lead.

This may cost Collins her seat, though. She already lost “independents” with her Judge K vote, but now she’ll lose Rs as well. Tillis will be strengthened.

Senate should be 52-48 or at worst 51-49 after the election (we’ll gain AL, possibly MI).

"Translation. Alexander thinks that he
has a deal with Trump on a nominee."

You're probably right.
Maybe Alexander gets to be an Ambassador somewhere or
an influential position in the administration if
Pres. Trump wins reelection.

One more down. Corey Gardner is going to lose in Colorado anyway. Offer him a well paid job at a Right leaning think tank for voting to confirm - ie being a good team player.

It looks like the Turtle will have the votes.

John Adams named John Marshall to be Chief Justice shortly before he left office—after he had been defeated for re-election. The Senate was still in Federalist hands (the current senators had been elected in 1798 during the anti-French hysteria)—the Congress elected in 1800 was Republican but would not meet until December 1801. Marshall was the most consequential Chief Justice in our history.

Lamar must have decided that he wants to continue to live in Tennessee after his Senate term ends.

JHC, how in the hell do the Rs have so many worthless squishes in the senate? What a pathetic party.

I’m getting my popcorn ready...I want to see how the Dems will discredit the two ladies who are the front-runners.

NO! That makes it 50 - 48 if Mittens votes “no”. We win!

Abstentions are not “no” votes!
