As weird as this sounds, I would love to analyze her pedigree, just because I’m that kind of pedigree freak.

The first one, Caesar, was a literal answer to a prayer.
The uncle was all over me and one night, on late night TV, I watched a movie, “The Doberman Gang”.
When it was over, in my childish simplicity, I knelt and asked God for a dog like that, to save me.
Not a week later, a stray was found by my neighbor, laying along the road.
He took him home, planning to keep him but that dog left his yard and walked to mine, every day.
Eventually he got tired of fetching him back and said “I guess he’s YOUR dog, then”.
Uncle never laid a paw on me again and I stopped hiding in my house all the time and went back to running the mountains with my dog by my side.
People don’t know that Labs make good watch dogs.
A friend had a pack of them and it was lucky that they liked me.

Dobermans are working dogs, not herding dogs. Dobermans were bred for police/military work, unlike Rottweilers which are actually bred herding, but have been put into the working dog classification.
I am a Rottweiler owner/breeder, and Rotties get a bad name due mostly to idiot owners. Like Dobies, Rotties are very loyal, affectionate, family oriented dogs. They are not for everyone. Both breeds want to, and thrive on working.
So if you are looking for a herding dog that is also a protective dog, get a GSD or a Rottweiler. If you are looking for a protection only go with the Dobie. Either way you can’t go wrong.

Astute observation. I heard scammers, hucksters, used car salesmen type don’t wear ties because they can be grabbed to prevent a fast getaway.
Pook was a great dog gentle as a lamb with a bellowing bark.
I surprised him a few times coming into the back yard, and he would come wheeling around the corner on his hind legs barking his head off, then when he saw me it was all kisses LOL!
I always told him “yer a good boy Pook, you let Daddy know they are here and I will take care of the rest”
