Police are a reflection upon the community that one lives live in.
Get the church group involved. .. Kids too.
Buy the material in bulk. .... Set up a assembly line process. ... Don’t forget to wrap them in tissue paper and tie with a ribbon. ...
Or, the group could make a special quilt to hang on the station wall. ... Don’t forget the wall plaque.
Else, make homemade thank you cards. Great for kids. ... Glue, construction paper, glitter, crayons. ..get all age groups involved.
A homemade gift is more meaningful to them than some store bought trinket.
Excellent! And I like the restaurant meals certificates idea.
Oooo, thats a very good idea, my church would love to help with something like this.
You should call them first to see if they can even accept it.
I imagine a lot of police would be wary of accepting gifts from the public right now, so it might be better to first approach the police department Public Information Officer with the idea of giving them a gift card which *their* “trusted agent” can then use to get a gift more likely to be appreciated and enjoyed by them.
In a way I’m thinking of something like as was used for the “Adopt a Sniper” program in Iraq and Afghanistan. Most people were amazed by what actual snipers needed to make their lives easier. But soon the list mushroomed to hundreds of items, as they needed a lot of specialized but inexpensive things most people wouldn’t think of but were unavailable in theater.
Thanks for the advice. I have a couple of contacts/friends there so there shouldnt be a problem. One of them gave me ideas of things I would never have thought of!
Bkmk
I was talking about this to the wife today...there’s a station right near our house. I seriously thought about Krispy Kreme donuts, but I probably need to call before bringing food. It might be policy that they don’t accept food (for obvious reasons).
Also thought about making a sign that says “We support the police” and standing in their parking lot for awhile. If nothing else, I’ll visit and tell them we’re behind them 100%.
I think those are great ideas!
I’ve seen some good ideas in this thread also. Thanks for starting this thread!
