We have a whopping one patient in our COVid designated unit. He’s been intubated for weeks now, and has been on crrt.

Positives and PUI’s are declining as well

My guess: 2 deaths for every true corona case by treatment of other conditions delayed. Cancers which became metastic. Coronary lesions which became inoperable. That story will never be told

I hope he had good solid evidence to back up relaxing the social distancing rules. We’ll see soon enough if there is a resurgence of Covid-19 in Georgia.

Typically, in a disease outbreak, the disease is considered eradicated if two full incubation periods have passed without any new cases. Clearly, that criterion has not been met.

Your guess is as good as mine - it would depend on the area, what sort of population demographic, level of medical care available and all that. We have a lot of medical facilities in this area with a pretty dense population (mostly younger) in the west side of the county. Another problem is that some of those patients I mentioned are getting behind the wheel and driving and we've had a lot of unusual wrecks. An onset of confusion, blacking out or even dying while driving is adding to the carnage. I'm now doubly cautious when out these days.

Well I watched New Yorkers bring the virus into Eastern Pa. because Cuomo and Debasio wouldn’t lock down.....So I would have had no issue at all had they even quarantined New york...and they should have.

It was terrible to watch the virus spread and build up across the east state to state and it began in New York....I will never forgive Cuomo nor Debasio.

The incubation period for COVID-19, which is the time between exposure to the virus (becoming infected) and symptom onset, is on average 5-6 days, however can be up to 14 days.
It’s already past all that.

Who would have thought that cleaning the nursing homes where the most at risk are and putting other measures in place, like not putting CCPVirus positive cases in said would have made a huge difference.

pity this is behind paywall. hope someone can access it and provide a few more excerpts:

10 May: UK Telegraph: Is the chilling truth that the decision to impose lockdown was based on crude mathematical guesswork?
By Matt Ridley and David Davis
Professor Neil Ferguson of Imperial College “stepped back” from the Sage group advising ministers when his lockdown-busting romantic trysts were exposed. Perhaps he should have been dropped for a more consequential misstep. Details of the model his team built to predict the epidemic are emerging and they are not pretty. In the respective words of four experienced modellers, the code is “deeply riddled” with bugs, “a fairly arbitrary Heath Robinson machine”, has “huge blocks of code – bad practice” and is “quite possibly the worst production code I have ever seen”.

When ministers make statements about coronavirus policy they invariably say that they are “following the science”. But cutting-edge science is messy and unclear, a contest of ideas arbitrated by facts, a process of conjecture and refutation. This is not new. Almost two centuries ago Thomas Huxley described the “great tragedy of science – the slaying of a beautiful hypothesis by an ugly fact.”...

Technically if you start the clock on the first day some things could open (4/24) but not much of GA raced to reopen. We'll have a clearer picture in another week. If we haven't seen a rebound of the virus by end of May, I'd think we'd be in the clear so long as masks, sanitizing and social distancing continue.

It's too early to have a ticker tape parade

14 days is for the vast majority of cases. There are outliers which is why 21 days isn't unreasonable when we're talking the reopening of the economy and looking for a rebound in spread.

The Johns Hopkins study backing the "14 day quarantine" said, "More than 97% of infected people who develop symptoms will do so within 11.5 days" and most in about five days. They claimed 14 days should cover "99%" of infectious cases.

Average incubation is 5/6 days. We are already at three times that.
And the shopping malls have been packed since reopening. Same with barber shops etc. Plenty of opportunities for the virus to spread.
Instead we have the lowest hospitalizations etc.
The dog did not bark.
