To all you guys that wear masks. If it makes you feel safe and better, by all means wear the thing

They're mandated here.

coffee filters also rate pretty high in filtering out small .3 micron particles (Covid is thought to be around 0.06 micron to 1.4 or so- when on droplets, it’s over .3 microns)

But i guess they can be hard to breath through- nylon would likely be more breathable-

cut a small piece, and glue it to the mask-
= = =

Yes. That would do the filtering. Or even wrap a section around the mask - filter on both sides.

Meanwhile, another advantage of the over the head approach is to compress the mask to the face and stop leaks at the edges.

My mask leaks up by my nose, and fogs my glasses. Hard to read the fine print on the grocery labels. So maybe I am getting too many carbs or GMOs. That would kill me too.

we are mandated to here- (although law enforcement isn’t too oppressive about it)- and again- if it stops covid from going out- then it stops covid from coming in- these aren’t one way only masks- Studies are showing masks are significantly stopping virus from getting through to the other side- regardless of which side- This is why doctors and nurses etc wanted them- because they help protect the wearer too- provided you learn not to touch your face, and remove them safely- if there’s any evidence to contrary, I’m not aware of it- but common sense suggests that it stops virus from entering and from exiting-

[[Or even wrap a section around the mask - filter on both sides.]]

The only problem might be removing it if you wrap it around the face- but i suppose if we’re gonna wash hair and stuff after shopping- should be fine- just gotta get it off face without touching the face, eyes, nose, mouth etc—

Lol me too-

Just shush and listen to your betters.

And yet many N95 masks have an exhaust valve, so they filter nothing going out.

One note: if you’re going to use a nylon pantyhose to make a face filter, be sure the lady is no longer wearing it.

I am visualizing a Benny Hill skit with two characters wearing the same pair of nylon panty hose, each one with their head in a leg, bumping into each other while staggering around trying to commit the robbery.

The mask is not for your protection; it is for the protection of those around you. Other people wearing a mask is for your protection. If someone coughs or sneezes in this scenario it travels less than an inch and not 6 ft.
It is a social contract. This is why a scarf, etc. will work as well.

If you are dealing with unmasked infected people, then you need an N95 or N99 mask and eye protection. Hospitals should have the patient wear a surgical mask to decrease the spread to personnel.

I favor of you wearing them. But, just watched a Dr. on tv recommend that only wear them for a couple of hours at a time since they may trap CO2 from breathing and cause problems.
