What We, the People, Learned, Thanks to Coronavirus

Those of us who are smart learned that the Chinese represent an existential threat via bioweapons. We just accidentally got hit with a weak one.

• We learned we shouldn't become dependent on foreign nations for critical supplies, like medical equipment and pharmaceuticals.
• We learned the Federal Reserve has a lot of tricks up it's sleeve. We'll see how they turned out.
• We learned the democrats actually will back down when there is an outcry against stupidity.
• We learned that we have a lot of technology that can produce vaccine candidates quickly, but that testing takes forever.
• We learned that stress testing a beauracracy like the CDC and FDA identifies a lot of counter productive regulations.
• We learned Melania even makes a mask look hot.
• We learned China needs new abacuses.
• We learned China produces crap tests and gear.
• We learned Trump's hunches on medicine are pretty good.
• We learned 60% of the nation is able to work from home.
• We leaned that a lot of people have trouble emotionally accepting the news and facts about a pandemic.
• We learned some people are okay letting others die, as long a their 401k doesn't go down.
• Certain leftists learned not to lick toilet seats.
• We learned Rand Paul needs to be quarantined while waiting results next time he has a pandemic test.
• We learned quarantines are okay in the right circumstances.
• We learned travel bans are okay in the right circumstances.
• We learned some people will rebel and throw coronavirus parties or hold church services or go to spring break even if it means spreading a disease.
• We learned to pay close attention to chemical names and that Hydrochloroquine phosphate is not the same as the drug Hydrochloroquine.
• We learned that masks don't prevent infection, then we unlearned that, and learned that everyone needs to wear a mask during a pandemic.

I hope we learn (because I can’t see that the lesson has yet been learned) that a more target-specific response that is more agile than whacking the entire economy on the head with a mallet would make sense, more value for the money spent and probably a need for a lot less total spent too.

Instead of this society-wide lockdown, what if large scale resources were directed at the care home sector where so many of the people dying from the virus are (predictably) located?

Given how much money is flying out the door towards emergency welfare benefits for millions and millions of people, if 10% of that had been spent instead on comprehensive support for the epicentre locations, then a lot of needless suffering and disruption would have been avoided and perhaps the death toll would actually be lower since those most at risk would be the direct target of the response.

We learned that we can be lied to over and over by the bureaucracy in Washington nad too many sheeple will buy into it wholly. We also learned that the last thing on earth to believe would be the media.

We also learned that the deep state would kill the economy of America just to get rid of our President Donald J. Trump.

• We learned it's better to have TP and not need it, than to need TP and not have it.
• We learned there are a lot of recipes for hand sanitizer, but some of them can burn kids hands and land you in jail.

• We learned soap and water are better than hand sanitizer.
• We learned that we aren't suppose to touch our face.
• We learned that none of us can avoid touching our face.

We learned that the President had correct instincts about HCQ + azithomycin cure, but neglected to mention the zinc part.

We are learning news media and Democrats would rather see Americans dead than admit Trump was right.

We learned you cannot trust your doctor or governor to have or use the most current information and that you’ve got to dig it out yourself.

• The internet is a marvelous tool of communication and information exchange.
  
• When doctors all over the planet say "we are really scared now" most people stop caring about politics. This specifically excludes congressional Democrats.
  
• Angry Italian mayors are really good at telling people to follow self quarantine rules.
  
• India is a better ally than China.
  
• China is not a ally to anyone except the Chinese leadership.
  
• Chinese doctors are among the bravest people on the planet. Unfortunately they live in China.
  
• A large number of relatively weak allies who are trustworthy are better to have in a crisis than one big powerful ally in name only.
  
• Allies in name only are effectively enemies during a crisis.
  
• The WHO needs regime change more than Venezuela, Iran, or North Korea.
  
• The White House press corps is exceptionally stupid.
  
• When people are told they are living in a real life horror movie and what to do to get out alive at the start of the movie, most people will choose to be the smart person who lives instead of the dumb people who die.
