He could get away with dumping Dr Doom. The guy changes his story to pander to whoever he is talking to so Trump can dump him on the grounds of “inconsistent messaging that confuses the American people”. There, see how easy that is?
Anyone who isn’t taking this virus very, very seriously is extremely misinformed. That’s just a fact. That fact, and the need to focus efforts on saving the economy, are NOT incompatible.
What we need, desperately, is to ramp up testing - including antibody testing. We need to know where we can safely begin working again - albeit with protection (i.e. PPE), and where efforts need to be concentrated for containment. The antibody testing will help to determine who has already been infected and now has some level of immunity. We can lead the world in this kind of response, but it will take a focused effort.
Getting back to the virus, it is not being hyped. It is highly contagious, and it is highly virulent.
