That was how I met her, first via that book and then the book(s) True Life In God. It was like my steps were being directed.
I found those (her) books after having read The Harbinger, along with several books by people who had had Near Death Experiences (NDAs) and told their stories.
I was on a spiritual information quest back then. Human religiosity makes God very confusing to me, with many differing opinions about Father, Son, Spirit and Mother Mary, with many corresponding denominations to go with them. Like with everything else in life so far, I’ve always needed my own answers.
The book My Descent Into Death: A Second Chance At Life made several things real enough for me that learning about Vassula Ryan’s experiences and how God uses her was almost expected, along with being hoped for and very welcomed.
I think it’s cool to have God teach us like He does through people like her ... at least, that’s been my experience with the material as someone who did not grow up with or in religion.
But, “ymmv”, of course, and I confess to being totally surprised by how people responded when I first showed/gave people the TLIG book.
