You forgot two things in between your Steps One and Two: 1. Trump is removed. 1A. Pence immediately becomes Prez. 1B. Pence immediately nominates a new Vice Prez. 1C. The Constitution has no mechanism to place the House Speaker into the Vice Presidency.. After Agnew resigned, the Speaker did not ascend to the VP. Nixon nominated Ford. After Ford became Prez, upon Nixon’s resignation, he nominated Rockefeller as VP; The Speaker did not become the temp VP.

I’ll bet it was fun to listen to though. I have read it (tried to) and thought it was fascinating even though incomprehensible. It must have been a spellbinding fireside story in the day for the audience who could understand it.
Oh, I have listened to it through both CDs a couple times. Indeed, don’t know what’s happening, but sounds fascinating. Great way to focus on the phonetic/musical patterns without distraction of content.
No reason to believe it can’t be won back next year.
This is still too early and I don’t think it wise to get too confident.

I feel much better after you pointed that out. Perhaps Pence could nominate Trump to be the new Vice President, and then Pence could resign; Trump becomes President again and Pence Vice President.
Overconfidence is fatal. We are 11 months away from the general election. Hillary Clinton was overconfident, and her staffers failed to see the “blue wall” of PA, MI, and WI collapsing. She almost lost MN, and Trump blew her away in the swing states of FL and OH.
In IL I was very involved as a precinct worker. I typically knocked on every single door, registered or not, citizen or not. That was my thing since Goldwater in 64. I knew who was in the precinct and who would vote and most often how they woud vote.
I fled IL in 2013 and am now in GA, heavily Democrat South side of Atlanta. I see a small percentage of my neigbors going the Kanye West direction. There is no vote fraud in GA ... not like IL.
As a Yankee in GA, I feel like maybe I am too old to learn how to communicate with Southerners.
I have not found a place to plug in yet. Patting ourselves on the back at expensive Country Clubs is not my thing. But that is halfway the fault of my personal situation.
