Henry Louis Gates, Jr., researched her background for Finding Your Roots. It was shown on the local PBS station this week but apparently it was a re-run from 2017. She had a Cuban immigrant ancestor whose ancestors included pardos libres (free persons of mixed race). Gates found that her DNA was 10% sub-Saharan African. Gates told her that she was the blackest white woman he had ever met.
