“Im a better lover after watching 1,000s of porn videos.” To yourself. /budumpbump.
I used to play pool in a league, long ago...even had my own cues (two, no less!) with shoulder cases, the glove, my own chalk, all that. Let it go once the local divey poolhall (where “The Color of Money” was filmed) was no longer within walking distance after work.
I have a couple of instruction videos on pool, took lessons (as part of my pool league) a couple of times with a pro...all that will give you a lot of good concepts but, in the end, to borrow a concept from a competition shooter, “you’re not near competition level until you’ve worn out a barrel”. Practice shots, shots and more shots, from every direction.
I still miss nine-ball...fast, furious and fun!
Do it wrong and the fight is on.
Agreed, but position doesn’t matter if you can’t sink them. Gotta do it all.
Watching Minnesota Fats might be entertaining but it aint gonna make you better.
Couldn’t hurt.
And I’m a pretty mean stick.
Both of my older brothers are ambidextrous. What eye do you site a rifle with?
Right eye, you’re dominant “right” brain.
Left eye, dominant left brain, IIRC.
I watched Tiger Woods play golf, and I too have several green jackets.
(not)
Interesting that you asked.
Being ambidextrous, I shoot right handed, for both pistol and rifle, using my right eye for both.
I had an NRA instructor teach me how to determine your dominant eye.
No...If you learn from that video you’ll lose every game...That fella knows nothing about ‘English’ and doesn’t know how to position the Q ball after the shot...And I apologize if that’s you in the video...
Didn’t you already know which eye felt like the correct eye to site with?
An instructor had to “teach” you?
Yes, I was wrongly using my left eye for aiming; once I started using my right eye I became much more accurate.
Sometimes you need some outside help to stop bad habits.
Oh, Ok... Interesting.
The key is understanding geometry and “English”. Start with English. Most quarter tables allow access to the cue ball and that’s all you need.
Set the cue ball about 15” off the side rail. Always... ALWAYS chalk up between shots. Line your cue stick up to hit the cue ball at a 90 degree angle into the rail. Learn how to use “English” so the ball rebounds off the rail at varying angles. Contact the cue ball just right of center, it rebounds to the right. Contact left of center, rebounds to the left. Contact toward the bottom, it comes off the rail faster, above center, it wants to lay down so the rebound is not as hard. This will come in handy when you are using the rail and you either want to bank off the rail at a more obtuse angle or a sharp angle.
It’s a long process so the key is to drink and enjoy. Oh, and by the way.... do not use your thumb as a bridge as in the picture. Three fingers and a thumb down with index finger wrapped around the cue stick to guide it straight into the cue ball. On the back side, hold the cue loosely, elbow up and swing your forearm back and forth like a pendulum. Don’t murder the ball aaaand... at least initially.... don’t worry about the next shot. Focus on sinking the ball you’re aiming at.
One more thing.... if you find yourself in a nice pool hall with proper lighting over the table. The reflection of the light off the target ball is usually a good indication as to where to hit it.
I’m the offspring of a lefty and a righty.
I’m dominant left foot with lots of power, precision with right but no power, although I contribute most of this to the strength of planting with my left foot to pass with my right. I’m much more stable with my left on the ground than I am with my right.
Throw right hand only. Shoot right handed in basketball, but my left hand is exactly like my right within 10 feet of the basket.
I bat and golf left but can do both decently right. Writing is all right. Drinking is left hand, eating equally comfortable with both hands.
My brain wires got crossed every which way.
you drink 7 and 7s
Ah the good old days. I think I drank 7 and 7s because it was easiest to reorder after youve had several of them.
