There were other parallel projects of the era, Artichoke being one of them. It was all part of the cold war madness.
MKUltra and like projects were supposedly trashed as a result of the 1977 congressional hearings on the subject. Also the intelligence agencies were reorganized.

Wow, just wow. I especially like how he says “I am not saying this is what happened” then went on to outline exactly how Trump made this 8/8 over the advice of his writers.
We are really in a bad way as a country.....how long before this whole mess blows up? I mean the FBI is actually making a case that Trump is in fact a Hitler loving white supremacist!
To be quite honest, we cannot hope for a Trump like president forever. And when the pendulum swings back the other way, we are all in big trouble.
I know. I'm hoping Trump can win the next election but now I'm not so sure. If we don't get control over the CIA we're fucked. I don't think people realize how important that seat for DNI was.

An important related point relevant to the recent shootings is that CIA began using cults for operations in the early 1950s, including specifically Scientology, per the memoirs of CIA agent Miles Copeland. Christchurch shooter Brenton Tarrant's manifesto referenced a Satanic symbol called the Black Sun and drew inspiration from Norwegian neo-Nazi Anders Behring Breivik, who subscribes to an occult ideology called Odinism similar to that of the Process. Patrick Cruisus's father hosted a New Age guru named João Teixeira de Faria who goes by the moniker of John of God and is the subject of a sex abuse investigation in Brazil. Connor Betts was a Satanist, who died wearing a hoodie with a quote referencing Satanic serial killer Richard Ramirez.
Another point to add: while CIA ran MKULTRA, the program was originally inspired by North Korea's brainwashing program, learned by the North Koreans from the Chinese; and the Soviets, the British, and likely others ran similar programs. By the late 1960s, the CIA's program had gotten "into the wild" and the technology was available for use by third parties, including for "contract" killings where a lone nut was called for to obscure the motive. On that note, Brenton Tarrant was radicalized in North Korea.
Could be, but the article does not make the connections tight enough. Three degrees of separation are huge, especially when one doesn’t know how close if at all the players ever were to each other. I am surely 3 degrees of separation from a lot of people with whom I have nothing to do.
