First time I can ever remember hoping that a team claiming to represent the US loses. These women don’t represent the US, of course - they show contempt for the elected leader of the nation, the team captain refuses to show respect for the flag of the nation. They are self-centered leftists using what is supposed to be the nation’s team to promote their own interests. The corporations supporting Team USA should be held to account.

In response to their actions, he ordered Smith and Carlos suspended from the US team and banned from the Olympic Village. When the US Olympic Committee refused, Brundage threatened to ban the entire US track team. This threat led to the expulsion of the two athletes from the Games.[11]
