If Intelligence is paramount in war, and none of these guys have any idea what the domestic intelligence infrastructure looks like in the west and elsewhere, let alone what is in their files personally, and who in their circles has helped fill out those files, is anything they say even remotely significant to the discussion?

In a nation of 350M in a general Civil War scenario, the 700,000 man Army would not even be worthy of an historical footnote. A non factor.
I think the opposite is true. If the Red states made a new country they would be free to actually address that invasion.

It’s being reported that the left has begun to arm themselves bigly — in preparation in case the SHTF. That’s not good.
I don’t know, but maybe the fact that certain states balking at Rowe v. Wade, a geographical separation may be starting. Decent people may start gravitating to the southeast to be with like-minded people. Then they could move north into the Heartland and separate the two coasts, making them weaker.

There will not be a next civil war. Unlike during the run-up to our previous civil war when the country was divided along economic lines, that bring agriculture and industry, today the state’s are much more economically integrated. Let’s take Texas as an example; during the civil war cotton was king in Texas. Today, there are actually more non-native born Texans than native born Texans. And, over 90% of Texans live within a one hundred mile corridor running along I-35/I-45. And, most of these people are employed by the non-agrarian sector of the economy. And. The vast majority of these people rarely venture outside of this corridor unless they fly out of state or country. My point is this; the time of strong state loyalty has passed. We as a people are far too comingled to stir passions strong enough to take up arms, kiss family goodbye, join a militia and head for the hills to fight the evil empire. That opportunity has passed by.
