For us oldsters who ran the gauntlet, 65 years ago, of blood soaked tabloid covers, bloody crime magazines in the grocery store checkout lines, front page photos of gangland killings, and the early days of TV news reports, such things don’t bother us. Too bad we have raised a generation of wimps who go..”EEK!” at the sight of such things.

My feelings as well, and am disgusted by all these "We don't want to offend you" wimpy warnings.

The flip side is that a snowflake successfully sued someone who scared them, so the media puts a one-size-fits-all disclaimer on everything - like warning labels that enforce common sense on many items. (The classic being on auto sunscreens "Do not drive with screen in place.")

PS - we're always in a funds drive here...how about helping by encouraging folks to donate so the blog pimps don't use us as a "free" hit-source - that might make more of them more tolerable.

That is a questionable model of reality.

The more that is posted on freerepublic, the more hits freerepublic will get.

Been a Loooong time since I suggested limiting participation for those who don’t ante up....most FReepers use FR as their main source for news...having bloggers weighing in with inf o that is mainly cribbed from other sources anyway doesn’t help FR but it benefits them if they get enough of us to hit their sites...they get more hits and FR gets the same hits...not that hits have a lot to do with keeping FR financially healthy - we have no advertisers like the bloggers do.
When I said “more tolerable” I meant for FReepers who pay their, and a LOT of others’ way with the donations that keep FR on-line. If it doesn’t irk one to see others tapping into their hard earned money, then perhaps when those who don’t get irked about a lot of FReeloaders aren’t really irked about the drain the illegal invaders cause....same principle of some paying for the convenience of those who think they’re entitled to free stuff.
Why encourage an entitlement mentality on FR when supposedly espousing a personal responsibility mentality for the rest of America?
