Honestly, my concern is not “Islam.” That is a red herring.
My concern is a defense department that cannot account for $23 trillion dollars.
The Defense department s, as it has always been, a beuracracy that is fighting the last war, worried about the latest contracts, and keeping the beast fed.
Putting a political animal steeped in that environment in charge is, in my opinion, a mistake.
I would love to see a defense department focus on our defense, not on keeping the war fires burning.

I agree with your description of Col. West.
However, since he’s been living in the DFW area of Texas for a few years he might be really reluctant to move to the DC area.
Love him, but he’s a bit of a mid-level hothead, and it is no more right for our side to put into positions of responsibility people who would not be considered qualified if they were not black (or female or whatever).

I suggested this immediately after LapDog resigned. West would be a spectacular choice.
So the audit wasn't going to pass, but it needs to be dealt with. Congress is at fault too, and this is across all administrations.
Islam and how we view it is STRATEGIC. Our assumptions have to be correct. They are not. The intelligence community struggled with this and didn't get top cover from Bush 43 when he proclaimed it was "a religion of peace." It isn't, and Allen West knows it, and he knows how to articulate it. This is not a small matter. We wasted treasure and resources, and suffer from an inability to win.
I am a fan of the man, but atm, imo, what the DoD is in desperate need of at the helm is a forensic analyst that can start catching the thieves that infest the system, trim out some of the inadvertent waste that’s grown into the system and start laying in better practices for the rebuilding that’s gonna have to start soon.
