Assuming everyone tells the truth, there should theoretically be no reason to coordinate stories or anything like that. Assuming too that everything happened as miss swimsuit sunglasses said.

If you’re going to tell a whopper and expect your lifelong friend to cover, you would have at least firmed that up before you went public.
She may have assumed her friend would lie for her but I think all the attention, all the women coming out for Kavanaugh gave her pause. Telling a little white lie is one thing, destroying a good man is quite another.
